White smoke? When i had a shogun sport i had a similar problem. White smoke was linked to a buggered turbo. Just a suggestion

You need to have a little sniff to determine what it smells of, this will help you eliminate some things (oily or sweet). Are you loosing water level in the header tank? Does it look like steam (disappears quickly) or is it smoke (lingers around for longer than steam). If it looks like steam, go to a garage and ask them to do a block test, that will determine if you have coolant going into the combustion chambers. If its posative then its gonna be a head gasket. Thats my advice hope it helps.

I had an S2 back in the 90s that occasionally gave out white smoke.
They pressure tested the coolant system and it was OK, leak tested the cylinders and ok, but it was loosing a little amount of coolant. After a long time, the head was eventually removed and tested and found OK so all hoses changed but it was still loosing a bit of coolant (like 1mm in the tank each week). This carried on for weeks until the coolant level started to drop more quickly. Eventually, after more diagnosis, the head was removed again and test and found a micro crack in 2 valve seats - big big money for replacement so it was welded up at a specialist and re-machined - it was fine until I sold it. Not sure what caused the crack but the garage said it probably was running lean and overheated.....and S2s were prone to it!

hi thanx for all your suggestions. it seems to be steam rather than smoke and yes it does seem to be losing a bit of coolant.there is no given patent to when it happans and if i boot it when it happens it seems to clear.someone suggested it may be a small leak in the turbo any thoughts.
