Unit20 RS6 Upgrades

Just returned from spending 2 days at Unit 20 with the team.
I will describe what has been done but firstly I want to commend them on the most excellent customer service. Everything done to my car was clearly explained as the work progressed and was in full view of me. Just try that at an Audi dealer! We even went out for lunch together to continue the detailed discussions on performance etc.

Now for the fun

Full 20k Service, All filters, Oil and Plugs (We examined each plug for signs of over/under fueling)
Sort engine management light issue
New ITG Air Filters
New Maffs (I now know what these do)
New N75 Valve
New Forge DVs (See pictures, the also look the business but don't make any stupid woosh noise)
New H&R Coil Overs (the red spring bits)
New Hotchkis Anti Roll Bars (the black bits)
New Intercoolers (old ones oiled up)
New Oil Cooler and hoses (just caught the old ones before a burst and saved a new engine)
Miltek Cat Back non res
Phase 1 Customer Code Remap + Gearbox ECU upgrade

Then if not enough we fitted 4 x new Toyo R888 tyres. 265/30/19 Road legal slicks.
(I will keep you updated on how they perform but they were the only thing that kept the power down on my Twin Turbo TVR and are amazing)

I have not stopped grinning since driving away.
The noise, power and grip......

Great job done!

Cool, looks like you and Grizz have been busy. :) Are the R888s only for the spring/summer months and how much were they? I am going to go for the T1Rs next time (when the Michelin PS2s finally die).

You need to change your signature! ;-)

WOW also on the tyres!
Can you lot stop posting pics and Mods that are forcing me, YES FORCING ME! to spend cash.
(Mind thinks... you don't get bugger all return on it from the bank, why not 'invest' it on the Six...)

Help, I feel Mods coming...

The tyres do look sexy, must be border line road legal.....I am guessing that they are going to be tricky in the rain?

Grizz- does the CC gearbox map give you more control of gear selection at low revs?

Great stuff, I was with Grizz myself having work done Monday. Might fit some uprated DVs if these are effective in aiding boost control? No question they help reduce leakage on std.

I had the 888s on my Griff. They do look and handle great...I cant see them lasting too long on the 6 though?? Let us know how many miles you get out of them?!?!

Cheers,
Lig.

WOW, I bet the car feels a whole lot different on your way home. Mine is going on Monday for ECU and GEARBOX remap + miltec exhaust. Do you recommend the forge diverter v/v's over standard.

Awesome mods there mate, love those tyres, bet the 6 looks phat from the rear, so what are they like in the wet?

I was going to drive home to London yesterday from Unit20 but took a detour to Newcastle at present! Might get south tomorrow for the weekend.

Pictures outside hotel this morning so you can see the full effect of tyres. They are great and still have tread left after 2 days. With suspension setup it is like driving on rails with no scrabbling in bends. Power goes on the road where you want it.

Overall performance is outstanding with everything working well. Dvs have improved response in overtaking. (Sorry to all those drivers on the A19 in reasonably priced cars and the 911T)

Hi. In your mods you had fitted a pair of ITG air filters. Are they the cone type or direct replacement in the filter boxes. Do they have a noticeable gain in performance and noise. Cheers

ITG are direct replacement for OEM filters. I need to go back to Surrey Rolling Road to get her checked again and will be able to see if they make any difference.

500bhp, it is my understanding that the R888s shouldn't be used in winter months, presumably when you used them on your TVR you used them all year?

@500bhp: Loving those pics, the car looks phat. I just love those tyres.

@G: so these tyres need to be cherished like a baby then, seems they dont like the cold, be useless for me then as I put my car in storage for upto 3 months. unless you have 2 sets of course
