Parking sensor

Post by MalcolmSu » Sat Feb 28, 2009 1:52 am

I've just taken the parking sensors in my RS6 for granted and never really paid much attention to them. When you select reverse, there's a beeb to tell you the sensors are on and there's a green light on the parking sensor switch on the dash. Correct? Does the green light flash or is it solid? Mine is flashing tonight and I don't think I've noticed this before which makes me think it was always solid before?

Interesting - I don't see parking sensors as a listed part in my warranty direct "Extra Care" policy ... what kind of cover do you have?

Mine says "Luxury Care" Policy, includes pretty much everything except Sat Nav & Audio. Warranty Direct have been fairly good so far on the RS6 & had the policy for the last 12 months. We also have the same warranty on my wifes car and they are messing me around a bit the car is only 3yrs & 1 month old, they have rejected a claim on the basis that it was existing problem ! One of the control units for the MMI packed up !

They 100% should be solid,Check fuse for power to sensors. You can have them on a reader to tell which sensor is at fault should one gone down.

I got the dealer to check the sensors today when the car was in for its 'free' MOT today. They've said it needs a new "Parking Aid Control Unit". They told me that at lunch time but when i got there at 6 to pick the car up they still hadn't phone through to the warranty company (Car Care Plan) for authorisation so I'll have to take it back. The service assistant claimed the warranty wouldn't cover it as it would be considered an accessory! Sigh!

I had parking sensors replaced under warranty (audi).

how can it be an accessory when it's standard?

Warranty company (Car Care Plan) have agreed to stump up. Just to agree when it can go back into the garage again... :(

Sigh! back to garage again today, fitted parking aid control unit, sensors still not working - new unit indicated one faulty rear sensor instead Paint person on holiday, have to wait another week until he's back, then another day off the road. Of all the cars I've ever owned this beats all the others together, hands down, for the number of days off the road unusable! :(
