Does anyone know of anywhere that will sell the RNS-E and carry out the upgrade from RNS D on a 2003 RS6?

Cheers,

Find one on Ebay.

Saw one the other day, although the A6 units have gone up in price (circa £650)

Installation is not hard at all.

I have one currently in my garage.
I can supply and fit if you need it.

maybe a daft question but what does RNS-E give you over RNS-D?

What, apart from being the envy of all your friends?!

Mapping and navigation is tons better, phone integration is better (including bluetooth support), but for me the killer functionality is the dual SD card slots for MP3s.

I was always a bit cynical about upgrading to RNS-E, but now I've done it, it is far superior to RNS-D in terms of the navigation (functionality and 3D display) and the screens and usability with regard to the radio, CD changer etc. Makes the interior of the car feel more up to date too.

Nevertheless, I guess it's still a lot more than buying a Tomtom ...

Does the RNS-E still have tv facility as well as better nav?

Sort of.. It's a different TV unit that you have to have (it's in the boot), so to restore TV functionality you have to replace that too. I didn't bother since I didn't really use the TV in the first place. Of course, it's only analogue TV so there's a limited lifetime to that anyway. ISTR craigyb was starting to fit freeview units that come from the new TT instead.

You can buy an interface for the RNS-E and use an aftermarket digital TV tuner if you wish, i.e. Alpine.

If you do that Virdee how do you control the TV function, i take it you can't do it through the RNS-E.

100% recommend xfer to RNSE - I got mine from ebay for £600 and fit it myself with the help of google and some very kind members here. It was piece of p**s in the end

its tons better . . . and yes, a tom tom is cheaper, so's a Ford Fiesta but you wouldnt catch me driving one
