hi guys,i have recently bought what i thought would be my dream car-rs6 saloon.

upon buying it i have found that when driven really hard(foot to the floor) i get a sharp clunk from the o/s/r corner which feels like something is moving.it doesnt do it on normal driving but sometimes it will do the odd clunk when driving over bumpy ground quickly.

ive had a look around the shocker and there doesnt seem to be a bad oil leak,there is a sign that the shock may have been slightly weeping but no thing bad.
is this the sign of the suspension beginning to go or could it maybe just be a top mount?if it is just 1 shock,could it be sorted?

what are the tell tale signs of the suspension failing?

apart from this i love the car.

Don't waste your money on the DRC. Best thing you can do is bin it!

As others have already said, the DRC needs binning. See the thread for what DRC really stands for!

Also, there are numerous posts on the subject of DRC/shocks on here so best get searching. It wont take too long to find DRC related threads, there's so many of them!

The biggest gripe i have ever heard of on any car! Get some KW V3's on there, no more DRC problems, and will cost a fraction of what fixing the drc will!

DRC, perhaps ARB rear bushes?

I found that braking hard (from warp speed) in a straight line was kinda fun. It's a game where you really have to fight to keep the car going in a straight line. It's an easy way to check the system pressure, if it squirms like mad you have a leaky DRC. Or if roundabouts become seriously scary things to go round quickly Well, in my experience at least! Clanking rear suspension is also common on DRC failure/leak.

The problem is not only the cost to replace 1 shock, it's the getting the repressurisation right afterwards. That and the fact that the reliability of the repair is usually rubbish. Increasing the pressure back up to factory specs then puts more pressure on the other worn components that haven't been replaced. Mine failed within 1 month of it being "fixed".

The school of thought for most people is that if it's under Audi warranty get the DRC repaired, otherwise it's go coilovers as they are much cheaper and are reliable.

looks like its a coilover it then-its frustrating because it only does it when really accelerating hard-everywhere else,speed bumps etc there is no noise.

where can the coilover kit be purchased from.
i am capable of fitting it and setting it up myself.

You can buy the kit direct - see the KW website. Probably easier to contact the guys at Sportstech though. Don't forget to get the wheels properly aligned though as I've worn through 2 sets of rear tyres (incorrect camber setting).

Unless something has drastically changed do not go to Sports Tech, not even for parts. See my previous experience (and other peoples) of these cowboys here -
