Ten months after parting from my RS6!

It's a little over ten months since the day that I bid farewell to my Daytona RS6 Avant. She went to Fontain in search of a new owner. The last I saw of her was when Barry drove away after dropping Ruby and me at a hotel close to Heathrow airport. The following day we caught a flight to the Philippines, where we've been ever since.

Life here is good, but I have to admit that I still miss both the RS and the MR2. The Mitsu Pajero (Shogun) doesn't have quite the same appeal - but it is much more suitable for the roads here. The Pajero may be one of the fastest vehicles on the roads here, but is the slowest car (in terms of 0-60) that I've ever owned!

Does anyone know what became of my RS6 - it was advertised at £27k on the Fontain website in early December 2007, and quickly changed status to 'sold'. For those who didn't know, or have forgotten, me - it was a Daytona Grey RS6 Avant, first registered on May 20 2003. The reg was RF03 ***.

The car was pretty standard - factory options included silver alcantara trim, grey poplar inlays, 18" wheels. Aftermarket mods included the fitting of a 'garage door opener', the RNS-E Nav, and a Nokia Bluetooth hands-free kit.

Has the new owner made an appearance on this site? The car still had the RS246 window sticker when she left me.

Hi Volts, I've come here to be with my wonderful filipina wife! We're living in Tagum.

I did look at the possibility of shipping my cars here - until I found that RHD cars are not allowed into the country! :( Anyway, they would have problems on anything but the main highways ... the Pajero frequently bottoms out on some of the unpaved roads.

Hi Peter, good to hear from you again. :)

Do you have any photos of your current ride or the Philippines you'd like to share?

I keep meaning to put photos up on my website - I'll try to get that done and then post links. Photos of our private beach, our 11 hectare farm, the house we're building, our two attractive 18y/o filipina maids etc.

You must be joking! If not, you are my hero.

Nope, no joke - it's all completely true! Aren't I glad that I've made this 'sacrifice'?

Oh, and the house we're building ... bigger than the house I sold in Reading for more than £500k .. is budgeted at around £60k.

wow nice peterb! its simply paradise right? i can imagine the beach right now, oh my god.... anyway, looks like you have to visit a 4x4 garage and make the pajero into a mud crawler or sell it and get a landcruiser!
peace and good day! :D

Paradise indeed. In my wildest dreams I never expected to own a palm-lined white sand beach!

Are you suggesting that the Pajero is not capable of negotiating mud? Before I arrived here I was intending to purchase the Land Cruiser. However, I found that the spec of the cars being sold here was so far behind the UK spec, that I wasn't interested. The Pajero, on the other hand, is close to the spec of UK Shoguns.
