What damper settings for my PSS9's

Post by bepton » Thu Sep 18, 2008 3:13 pm

Any ideas for road use settings, for my RS6 Avant? Were on 4 of 10, which left the car wallowing and blowing through its travel. Put them up to 6 which feels better. Ride height is standard. I don't do track days and local Sussex roads are pretty bad. What do you recommend?

Run mine on 5 all round, with about 20mm drop at the front and 15mm at the rear, but the car settled a bit lower still after a few months of use. I have to be a bit careful over sleeping policemen but other than that it seems ok, and the roads where I live were voted the worst in the country in a magazine poll.

Folks,

Bilstein PSS9's are calibrated from 1-9, with 1 being firmest and 9 being softest. For what it's worth, I run mine at 4 for the road, but cranked them all the way to 1 when I was at the ring in the dry last month. Sure makes a difference, but you wouldn't want to run on the UK roads on seting 1 or 2 unless you were kinda hard-core!

I actually marked the edges of the rear adjusters with white paint, so that I can adjust easily without taking the wheels off each time. They are buggers to get to mind - you need small hands....
