bsically you don't. at least in that it is an operation that requires a lift, a warmed up unit, and vag-com.

Rob , get a new filter & gasket . They tend to take 6-7 liter's of G052 162 A2 .Make sure the magnets are clean.

Filter and gaskets...? Are we talking gearbox or engine oil?

It can be a pain to check. I purchased the Audi fill tool and use VagCom. In order to do a complete flush including the Torque converter it takes about 10 liters.

I really want to get this job done, but I don't trust Audi to do it properly since it's obviously VERY easy to get wrong and I can see them rushing through it to get their quotas.

Is this job feasible for someone with reasonable experience?

I'm comfortable changing clutches and cambelts etc, but never worked on anything as complex (or expensive ;)) as an RS6.

Exactly what I want to avoid.

I'd happily bring the car to you, but this would involve a huge amount of driving and a ferry trip. The only people anywhere near me that "know" the car are stealers.

That will be me then!

The mechanic in question pumped the gearbox oil in manually untill no more would go in and left it at that. I reckon he got about 3.5l in, thats all. He did not start the engine and he did not check the level with VAGCOM or any other means. In my ignorance i took his word that the car was ready and drove it 90 miles home. Needless to say the gearbox is toast.

Still waiting for a phonecall back from the culprit. does anyone have any advice as to how to go about getting them to sort it out?? F.O.C ideally.

HI all,I think this is a great thread. There are lots of people in the same boat that would like to do this to there rs6 cars, but dont want to use the stealers!! and are a long way from a specialist.

A lot of us have vag-com or have the use of it.So why doesnt somebody who knows what to do give a step by step on how to do this, and even make it a sticky thread. This would be a great help to alot of rs6 owners.

does anyone agree with what im saying??
