Finally returned to RS ownership -

Post by Balchy » Wed Jul 16, 2008 9:32 pm

Just wanted to say Hi, and my thanks to this forum for the good advice available!

I am in my 2nd week of owning an 03 Avus Silver RS6 Avant.

Wouldn't be my first choice of colour (but nicely understated), and it needs a bit of TLC - cosmetics (paint scuffs and wheels) also has the half leather (which I think looks alright)

... fingers crossed on the mechanicals : it has covered a lot less than 10k in the last 2-3 years so is being serviced + "ISO fixed" tomorrow by a main dealer. Paper work with the car shows a lot of engine warranty work at about 25k miles; all of which helped in the negotiations ...

As a very happy (but subsequently totally broke) RS2 owner - sold on at 152k miles - I am over the moon to be back in an RS, and ready to invest a little. A trip to Kim at QST is in the works too.

On the list - assuming no major problems:

sort out iPod integration
wheels
bit of paint work
interior - door handles

I'll post some pics after the valet :-)

Why not just use an FM transmitter for the iPod, works great ;)

Welcome!

Explore all your options first on the mapping front IMO, QST is my local, but mine goes to Grizz.....

Just bought 2 new perrelli rossos 255/35/19 paid £390 for the brace @just tyres in Tonbridge. Went everywhere and got quotes and they were all falling over themselves to beat it!
It's all Bollox.
Half of what you read is bull and the other half is all <beep>.

I use an iTrip - and found that the small cubby under the steering/dash is pretty good for reception, though it's still difficult to find a frequency that's completely without interference at some point in a journey.

Personally, coming from a BMW, I will miss the display of track info ... which on the DIS would be very nice

Thanks!

A remap isn't top of my list, I'm finding the standard performance enough right now!

Also, seems I do need new tyres, thinking of Continental Sport Contact 3, or Michelin Pilot Sport? Main dealer wanted me to put on "Smax" ... I think Dunlop...@200 ea
