Anybody know of a nice RS6 going cheap?????

Post by JimmyJ » Wed Jul 02, 2008 3:41 pm

Hello Everybody
Forgive my tounge in cheek subject header but i'm newly registered to the board with a keen interest in becoming a paid up member. I'm looking for an RS6 saloon, low to average miles for the year and at a price that reflects the wider economic down-turn of the moment (i.e., around the low £20k range for a private sale). Not too much to ask then! I'd prefer not to be paying too much to the stealers to start with, although I'm sure they will get my money eventually. Well, it's either them or the kids :x I suppose the dealer makes me a drink and take my money with a smile. Much more polite than two daughters!!!

The information on this board and others has been invaluable in narrowing the possibilities. That one on Ebay in particular! I have seen a couple that I do like but both are located a fair way from where I live (near Swansea). I was therefore wondering whether anybody on the forum knew the cars, their owners or had been to see them.

one from a private seller

and there is this one on at an independent garage

Any info on these cars (or any others for sale that I might have missed) is very much appreciated :D

I don't know anything specific about either of them, but if I were choosing, I'd go with the red private one, even though my own is the colour of the blue one. I really don't like the shiny black leather seats, the grippy ones in the red one are much better IMO. The wheels are nicer on the Red, it's got a Milltek exhaust and if my beady eyes don't deceive me, it's got the RNS-E sat nav, which is much better than the standard RNS-D one (though you would be wise to enquire as to who/how it was fitted and how well it works - I personally didn't bother upgrading the TV component when I did mine).

Having now watched the rather mental video for the blue one, that does have the older RNS-D satnav. Has all round drilled discs though.

The red colour is fantastic in real life, pics can't do it justice.

The red car is a year younger, 2004, slightly cheaper, better seats (I have leather, but for spirited driving I think I'd prefer the more grippy hi-tek inserts), just serviced + cambelt, probably RNS-E... get your cheque book!

And the red car has an Audi warranty... but check how much longer is left on it.
