Milltek question...

I've decided to go the Milltek route but can't make up my mind between the resonated or non resonated systems.
I'm probably going to go for the resonated system (only costs about £40 more). Does anyone have the non-resonated system fitted to their '6? If so what is it like?

Sorry to hijack but other than the price, what's the difference? I am presuming it's noise related???

I had the same dilema a few weeks ago. Resonated has two extra boxes on the pipes that make it a bit quiter at lower revs.
I am a loud mouthed <beep> so had no other choice than to go with non resonated. I love it. It is noisy and does intrude into the car cabin. But when there is crap onthe radio you switch it off.
Plus the wifes boyfriend can hear it and knows when to run !

To be fair i dont think there is much point in spending the money on a miltec unless you want your car to make more noise! So non resonated ! Unless you get rid of the cats aswell you wont get any more power out of the car

FYI, there is quite a difference in noise between the stock and Milltek zorst, as anyone with one fitted will tell you

At the last meet I stood between a stock RS6 and a Milltek catback (resonated) and the difference is very noticable. It sounds great IMHO, I couldn't hear the stock car running.

What kind of power does getting rid of the cats unleash? Have you had it done and if so, is it noticeable? Also, is it an expensive job?

I'm running a brand new Milltek full system with 100 cell cats and NON-resonated, would not consider the resonated, which is good, but this is excellent.
Just bought a TVR, wife dropped me off in the RS6 and while she drove away both I and the previous TVR owner just looked at the RS as it drove off with some welly, I mean we listened and both looked at each other and uttered loverly, before eyes fell back on the TVR.
So now I have two V8's, both sounding fab and both running 0-60mph in 4.7!!
Anyway non-res is definitely the way to go, not one of my passengers has complained about it being too noisy, maybe about the acceleration when I drive, but not the noise.
I'm in London for anyone who wants to hear it!

Sounds good Gav, I too also have a V8 TVR Chimaera and now, since last week, have my a RS6 Avant in my fleet. Have already oredered my Non Resonated Milltek and should be with me this week, fingers crossed. Im really looking foward to it. Youtube videos and the like never give the true note.

Gav, any chance of of hearing the Milltek in person? I have been trying to decide between a Res/Non Res system, would be good to hear one on a Avant before I take the plunge. I travel up to south London every now and then, where abouts are you?

Don't hesitate just buy one. Non res every time so at least everyone else can share a tiny piece of our enjoyment.

I was cynical until I drove one - non-resonated absolutely every time without any shadow of a doubt whatsoever.

Is yours De-Catted, grizz? I'm looking forwards to having a gander at your motor on Monday

Grizz's does sound good when I was out in it on way to North West meet. We drove through the Mersey tunnel with the windows down and maybe not at the 30mph limit with smiles on our faces!
