Automatic Door locking on drive off ????? Worked for a week

I was wondering if anyone could help me with the following please ?
Took my car (03 plate RS6) into Audi Leicester last week for a general health check over, while it was in there I asked them to program the auto lock feature - so all the doors locked at about 10mph. This worked great for just over a week and now does not work at all.
Central locking all works fine from remote and switch inside on drivers door. I have not been messing about with anything or disconnecting the battery etc.
Anyone have any ideas that will help me ? I rang Audi Leicester and they want it in again to investigate, which I dont really want to do as they will only fleece me ! Any help or advice would be much appreciated
Thanks

I have a similar problem where its stops working for a while and then it randomly seems to work again. For me at least the stopping it working bit seems related to the order that doors are opened in with the engine running ie unlocking and opening the doors from inside the car - wierd. I am working on the theory that seemed to work last time to get the doors synced again. So try this and let me know as I'm waiting for it to stop working again before I can see if it sorts it.
Open the car as normal with CL (drivers door open only) and start the car, drive a short distance but below 10mph when the doors should lock, then switch off the car and get out (drivers door only again) then lock the car using the CL. The next time you drive the car it may work OK.
But I must say this is really sh*t for a car like this, and if there is a reason/solution I would love to know, as my local stealers didn't have a clue and wanted to charge a fortune. Unfortunately I don't know anyone with VAGCOM to give me a hand.

This seems to be a prob with the RS6, although I am not sure why. I did this to my old A6 and it worked fine all the time. When it stops it seems to be start working again for no apparent reason (but for me seemed to be when opening and closing rear doors).
One way to make it work again is to use VAG-COM to open the module and check for errors. None logged for me but simply doing this made it remember it's settings again.
At first I thought it might have been a problem with my locking petrol cap motor that broke - but it wasn't broken, the metal arm had come off over time. Since replacing this I haven't had this problem again, but it's only been a few weeks.

Hi Carlos, I have tried your method a few times today with no sucess, I will try a few more times though.
It is very strange, everything else seems to work fine.
I guess I will have to see what Audi say, but the earliest I can get it booked in is 18th March. They did say they will check it out for free as they only programmed it last week though !

Yep - mine comes and goes too - no idea why! I've just got used to the excitement (??!!) and sense of dicovery at the start of every journey! Who'd want a predictable car!

Hi,
Mine also does the same

Bloody annoying the hell out of me.............
However, I have found the following info:-
peterb wrote:All RS6 cars supplied through Audi UK had the option of a standard Tracker at zero cost. I paid to upgrade to Horizon.
The description of the 'anti-hijack' facility mentioned above is a little confused - it's actually three different features which can all be enabled independently:
1) Beep on locking
2) 2-stage unlocking (driver's door on first press, then rest of doors)
3) Lock on speed (all doors lock when the road speed reaches 15kph, and unlock when the key is removed form ignition)
On cars built up to July 2003, this latter feature is not reliable - it may not always activate. There is later firmware for the central locking controller which fixes it.
These features can all be enabled, very easily, with VAG-COM. If you come along to a Windsor meet (always last Wednesday of the month), I can do it for you.
peterb wrote:Has anyone else enabled the automatic door locking feature and found that after some time that it stops functioning? This has been annoying me for some time - the only way of re-enabling the feature is to unset and reset it.
Browsing through ELSA last week, I discovered that this is known problem - a fault in the software (v D37) in the central locking control module.
Of course, even though it's a known issue, the dealer still insisted that I took the car in for them to look at, which I did this morning (together with printouts from ELSA!). The car is now booked back in on Thursday, to have the module changed.
This fault may apply to all A6 derivatives (2002 onwards?) with a production date earlier than July 2003 (VIN 4B3N099686).
I have asked my local Stealer about this & although they could not confirm about this update, all they said was to book the car in ~ But at £110 ph it can wait.
I have found that if it stops working that disconnecting tha battery for about 5mins seems to sort it out......
Cheers,

Skiwi, i think down under and about any where other than the u.k, there is no stupid problems. The more i read the more i believe it is down to u.k Audi staff that are not trained properly in maintaining these cars! Silly little problems that should be fixed, and they seem to be fixed else where, just not the U.K!
Skiwi do you have drc problems down there? Germany dont have these problems, or so they say. And i would like to believe them too as they are still fitting the drc on all there new cars!

i have a good relationship with my local dealer and have asked this question. they have reported no faults to me, and my car certainly doesn't show any of the signs. however my favourite local tech did know what to look for to check...
to the op, i'm happy to post the vag-com codes to turn this feature on or off if you require them.

I had a 2003 A6 4.2 that had this problem.. It was the central locking system that needed to be updated. A common problem in early 2003 6 series..Audi released a fix for it.. not sure if it was an update or a replacement but it was a known problem It was already fixed by the time my RS6 was built in late nov 03.

Ok, so is this a software or hardware fix? It seems that going to Audi will fix it but what do they actually do? Is it a new central locking module or just an upload? Does anyone have the tech info on this fix? Better yet, anyone know how much it would cost outside of the Audi warranty?

Mine has never worked, I have owned the car from 6 months old!! My old 03 A4 2.4se worked fine for the short while I owned it. Think I can live without it though, as many have intimated here- £110p/h to have the doors lock automaticaly is a bit steep, especially when my index finger can do it for nothing
