Squeaky Recaro Seats

Post by WeaselRS6saloon » Wed Feb 27, 2008 8:27 pm

Hi guys,

just wondering if anyone else has ever had or currently got any problems with squeaky front seats, mine are driving me mad !

Is this a common problem or easily fixed ?

Thanks

Mine are a bit squeaky. Normally when cold. A while back they were bad and I raised them up slightly and that made it better.

Still squeak a bit though.

My passenger seat was really bad but it turned out to be caused by the seat belt catch was rubbing on the leather. Fixed by attaching some black felt to the catch.

Just a thought?

Graybags, was just about to say the same thing. It's usually the seatbelt catch.

Hi Chaps,

As some have said the squeak is usually the seatbelt mount. The easy chap fix is by putting a bit of talc down between it and the seat - Johnsons baby is the best for this  it works every time!!!!

plus me front passenger seat rattles when no one is sitting in it, do the side mounts need tightening or is it something weird that audi will charge a fortune for ?

Hi folks , The front seat base side trims are held by a tin frame bracket . if you grab hold of this and tweek it down and out slightly this should give the clearance from the trim and the leather cover,in turn stopping the sweeking.
As for the rattling front seat with nobody sat in . that's a stip down side trim job and tight or replace upper frame.

In my old A6 the passenger seat "rattle" was caused by an incorrectly manufactured and badly fitted plastic lower/base back trim vibrating against the metal frame. Once trimmed and refitted correctly there was no rattle. FWIW.

Cheers guys.

A combination of pretty much all of the tips posted has made the seats much better.

Thanks again :D
