Level of service !!!!????

Post by davidfox123 » Sat Dec 29, 2007 9:35 pm

Had car serviced 4 weeks ago paid £400 to non-franchised garage but supposed specialist - brake fluid light came on so topped up. 1 week later brake pad worn light comes on. In my opinion these things should be checked when being serviced. Makes you wonder what else hasn't been done or checked doesn't it!? Any other comments or opinions would be welcomed.

True, this should not happen. On the other hand, I was advised not to drive my car after some warrantee work at an Audi garage because my brakes were "metal to metal" and I needed front pads AND discs. The pads were not even down to the sensor, and the discs were fine for another 15k. Being too pushy for work means I'll never visit that garage again (there was another issue of shoddy workmanship too).

I use a different dealer now, they spend time going over the complete worklist with me when it comes to payment time, so I can see what my money has been spent on. It's really a comprehensive list. The brake pads should always be checked and reported if they won't make it to the next service.

It might be worth mentioning to the garage, if even to see if an apology is forthcoming, but confidence and trust has been lost, so it may be time to go elsewhere.

Mention the garage here - isn't that what the forum is for? To warn other owners.
