Avants are definatly holding their value better than the saloons too...

funny that.. don't really understand that.. I mean 450bhp is 450bhp?

Thats down to lack of competition, I mean the saloon has the M5, E55 AMG as alternatives, there's not much to compare with if you need/want an estate. One of the reasons I bought the RS4 in the first place - got a dog and the RSPCA ain't too chuffed if you sling him in the boot

I wonder if many of them are cancelled orders that the dealer ended up with nobody lined up for, so went on the forecourt (after all the staff had a rip around the block in it), or genuine 2nd hand cars?

Best not to think about it really, I always wished I had the money to buy mine when it was new but now looking at the depreciation maybe not.

I thought the new owners would like to see what some people paid for their cars.... and I thought I did well not to suffer the £15k++ depreciation that someone else did in the first year owning my car.
Still, if I was back in the same situation as 5 1/2 years ago, I'd buy the same car and do it all again. It's been expensive, but it has been a BLAST.
I went out for a another pointless drive this evening, giving no thought to the price of petrol, and enjoyed every moment. :D

Yeah, No regrets here either, can't think of a more enjoyable way to spend the money.................

O.K. maybe there are other ways which may have been just as enjoyable but apart from a beer gut, a shriveled liver and V.D. wouldn't have much to show for it !!

The prices are helpful to potential c6 owners to let themselves know what hit they are going to take.

I paid £59k in November 2003 with absolutely no extras added. Still have the car and love it as much as the day I drove it out of the showroom. Still makes me laugh when I get asked how many miles to the gallon it'll do and a couple of passengers have even asked if it's a diesel

Thats more than a new C6 RS6 would cost isn't it ?

I wonder how the price of a C5 RS6 compares to a BMW M5 of the same year................

Just checked Pistonheads and there's a 2002 BMW E39 M5 with 78,000 Miles on there for £12,990 (from a trader not a dealership) so (to answer my own question) I would say there is little if any difference and they both seem to have depreciated at the same rate.
