Rear blinds

I spotted an A6 Avant on the M5 today with light tints and interior sun blinds. It caught my eye because I'm getting my windows tinted on Monday but because the car is going to New Zealand I can only go to a minimum of 35% transmission on any window, which is not all that dark.
Does anyone have blinds and are they retro-fittable to a car without them? By pulling them and having the light tint the overall effect is much darker but the car would still pass its Warrant of Fitness inspections by stowing the blinds.

I have dark windows AND the blinds. Overkill in my opinion. Would prefer just the blinds and in winter more light in the car for passengers. Sorry don't know if the blinds are retro-fittable.

I fitted the rear Audi *side* blinds to my A6, it required drilling into the door card at the top and the fittings aren't very good. If you don't get the position spot on for the clips at the top the blinds keep popping out (and tearing due to the strong retraction springs. As for blinds and tints I would say that's overkill as well - the blinds are really quite dark/good.
The electric rear (saloon) blind I had was superb, but that was a factory fit. Like the side blinds I am pretty sure you can retrofit the manual version to the Avant. Adam had factory side blinds built into his doors, but I don't know how they would compare to the aftermarket option.

yet to retrofittable, but it would require parts. the rear side blinds are manual, the rear roller blind is motor driven (switch, relay & motor).

Even on an Avant?

Electric on Saloon only IIRC.

Overkill maybe with the sort of tints most people have at the rear, but for NZ I have to keep to light smoke all round or the car will go over (or is it under) the 35% transmission threshold. I'd possibly only use them to keep prying eyes out of the load area. I wouldn't want just the blinds as I had that in my 530d and frankly it looks crap compared with darkened glass.
So the blinds you fitted are genuine Audi, Grant?

Yes, I got them from VAG parts - check under standard A6 Avant, not RS - doors are the same size.

I probably won't bother with the RS as it is tinted.
Audi side blinds - Avant 4B9 064 362, £62.95+VAT. I loved the eleccy rear blind on the saloon, especially at night. P.s. Side blinds are for rear passenger door windows.
Rear Avant blind: can't find part number, I can only find it for the C6?

Thanks Grant. I assume there is a rear side blind option for the Avant also, otherwise there would be a gap!

Sorry but there's no such option (that I am aware of at least - nor in ETKA). I think it will be a DIY job

OK, cheers. I wonder why they deem the rear window necessary but not the rear sides?

we have the rear blind in the allroad and it does work very well - quite effective, just a shame it is not automatic...
we also have the nz-legal 35% tint and it is also surprisingly effective, basically you can't see in. might be that kiwi sunshine....

There must be a flush fit option even if it means replacing the door cards. On my B7 RS4, I have side blinds and they fit flush into the door card. Great on hot days and when keeping the sun off the kids.

There is. Adam had them on his RS6. 4B9 861 333 and 4B9 861 334. Part of option 3Y3. You would also require a number of aditional parts, including the interior door pannels - 4B5 867 303 (304, 305, etc depending on colour and side).
Refer to 867-40 and 861-00 in ETKA for more info, if you need all the part numbers I can provide them.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll see how the tints alone look (though I think they'll be more like 41% than the allowed 35% from what the fitter tells me) and take it from there.
