low power !

I've got a nice new dyno open 1 mile from my house , so i thought it was rude not to have a go .
The dyno is a brand new DYNO DYNAMICS road (same as wrc @ silverstone) .
So of i go with hope's of a good run with my full milltek and chip .
To my horror i only had 438bhp !! so not a happy boy .
So i spent this afternoon with flashyg and vag com doing some logs .After 1/2 tank of fuel on my private test track found one of the maf sensors was under reading .
So i fitted a spare set that made thinks almost spot on  , I do have a small boost leak of 10-20 mb , a new set of one way valves should sort that out . :D

So i'll be of to MRC in a week or so for a real remap and then another r/road session.

I think it is worth trying the dyno again.

And get another rs6 on there to "normalize" any figures.

was it done locked in 3rd gear?

I guess that highlights the value of before and after plots. Mine is also underperforming, because it has a partially blocked cat Ray West thinks, though I also have a slightly under-reading MAF that needs replacing.

In terms of MAFs did I hear right that they are available exchange from Audi?

could it be an issue with the new exhaust set up and the current map?

Fen ... what are you planning on doing ... is this a good excuse for some replacement Milltek cats or are you going to source some Audi OEM ones? ... I suspect Grizz might have a pair available now or I've got my old ones stashed away in the garage.

Anyone know how much replacement MAFs are?

Rich.

I pulled 434bhp in mine and wasn't worried. Ok, it was below standard power, but the RR (Ric Woods in Stockport) gave me an impressive above average torque figure of 492lb/ft. Should I investigate my car's performance too?

i believe that the rolling roads are too unreliable to expect figures accurate to less than +/- 10%

While I agree with your sentiments on rolling roads Dave, mine is underperforming compared with tens of other similar cars Ray West has seen on the same rollers and it came up around 20-25bhp lower than he would have expected when he mapped it, plus it was showing a very slightly low reading from a MAF and one pre-cat was looking a bit red, so I'm sure mine is a bit down. Having said that with the power the RS6 is supposed to produce 10% allows for quite a variance.

In terms of what to do with it I'm not sure. All being well it will be in a container headed for New Zealand in 6 or 7 months and while I'm still considering my best options I think it may be better to leave it looking standard until it's registered there before making any visible modifications, hence Milltek or any other type of sports cats are what I would like but maybe not what I will go for (unless they go with the car but unfitted). I might be interested in someone's known good OE cat if the cost was reasonable though, but the labour to swap them out is still not inconsiderable.

you're right wrt any issues - the rolling road is a good way of ensuring that they are really solved.

i'd do the rns-e/bt mod if you don't have one, but i'm still working on a working nav disc for nz - i love the rns-e for it's other features.

it might be worth negotiating a warranty upfront for the shipment to godzone - especially if you can leverage giltrap's uk linkages....

Oooh - I like that warranty idea - any idea who they are linked with in the UK? The warranty I got from the supplying (non-Audi) dealer runs out in 7 weeks or so.

I have the RNS-E and BT all fitted (as my RNS-D had a faulty CAN gateway) - except I have to run the mic to the roof. Annoying that it's one harness all the way as my car has a mic up there already, but I don't want to chop the harness. It's a nice bit of kit, but it is even nicer with the nav function working so I have fingers and toes crossed you get a result with the disc.

easierst to contact either them or continentals, tell them what you want to do, and ask them to nominate a dealer in the uk that can appraise the vehicle for a "silver circle" warranty. you will have to pay for it, but they should be ok with the concept. if you don't have the numbers, drop me a pm and i'll supply.

You might also want to speak to European Motor Distributors - they are the importer for Audi in NZ and will ultimately who the guys at Giltraps / Continental will go back to +64 9 360 2911 info@audi.co.nz

PM me if you don't have any luck as I know the guys there.

yes, i'd forgotten about emd. they will have the contacts, but probably won't be able to give the warranty...
