Audi loan cars

Hi All,

My second visit to the local Audi $tealership in a month (DRC issues this time) I was interested to see what cars you tend to get to replace the ‘6.

Earlier in the month I had an A6 2.0 TDI which had the RNS-E to play with.

This time I have an A4 2.0 TDI that smells of dry dog food!

Does anyone get anything faster to play with?

Most dealers will attempt to offer as close to what you're driving once you get into the more expensive models.

For example, A8 owners will always be given an A8 as a loan car, as this forms part of the overall A8 ownership package.

When i had my RS6, i had a variety of loaners & it was often to a degree my choice. During one of the gearbox replacements, summer was upon us so i had an S4 Cab for a couple of weeks. Another time i was munching the miles & claiming fuel do decided on an A4 TDi to get some extra pennies. I've to date had no issue with the loan cars i've been given, except on the odd occasion where the dealer really has nothing decent available, in which case i'll take the DP's new S8 (will be an R8 by now) or one of the Sales Managers cars.

My dealer is rubbish on this, everyone gets an A4, and I mean everyone!!! Have discussed the fact of you spending £100K on a specced up A8 an/or an R8... this is starting to cause them great difficulty with their courtesy car policy of equality... they have just been bought out though so the policy will be under review as the dealership moves later in the year.

Amersham always used to give out A3/A4s never anything nicer even when it was their fault (see previous posts) for both S8 and RS6 . So how some of you seem to do better beats me - constant source of disapointment and missed sales opportunity on VAG side.

what makes me laugh is my mate who works for Jag... as part of the ford motor group, it was not uncommon that if your Range Rover or GT40 broke down, you were given a Focus!!!! He saw some award winning complaint letters on the company system.

Had 2 tiptronic boxes replaced on my RS6, both under warranty.

I can only assume customer loyalty plays a part, but the biggest factor i'd guess is the dealership size. Preston Audi also own Blackburn Audi & Carlisle Audi so quite a big chain & perhaps they have the spread of cars to be able to offer a variety.

Although i doubt the nicer cars i've driven are loaners, they'll no doubt have been demos or as said the DP's car. As for A8 owners, they are all on a special ownership plan that provides them with an A8 as a loan car. Their are no doubt a couple of conditions around lead times for bookng in etc, but it's an Audi scheme & the 2 A8's i've owned have fallen under this scheme & always resulted in A8 loaners for service/warranty work.

Got the '6 back a day early :)

Although the A4 I had smelt funny it beats getting a Fiesta or Ka when I had my Mondeo ST200!

I think car dealers are missing a trick with loan cars as it really could be seen a long test drive. I was glad to test the new shape A6 and the toys inside.

I did try to get a loan of the RS4 they had, but was denied.
