Approx value of my car?

Post by rossybee » Tue Jul 10, 2007 3:58 pm

Hi folks,

Toying with selling my RS6 Avant, basic details:

March 04 (04 plate)

Ebony black with red hide

35000miles with FASH

Extended Audi warranty to March 08

MOT & tax to March 08

Usual spec, BOSE, TV, Sat Nav, Sunroof, integrated Nokia phone cradle, etc

Totally standard, excellent condition.

Any advice on what a fair private selling price, and does anyone know of an interested party?

Thanks in advance

Hi Ross,

Sounds like a beaut!!

Having just bought one a few months back, I would say it depends on how quick you wanted to sell - I would guess a dealer trade in price would be around the 30\31\32 mark. IF you wanted a quick sale private around 33 but a fair price for that condition with warranty would be 35\36. All based on if I was in your shoes (and I am basing this on it needing the cam belt done at next service)!!

This is all IMHO of course...

Why you selling anyhow??!!

Lig.

The fact that there is 8 months warranty on the car should help it sell so push the price a bit. I would put it on for 33-34 1/2 k. You might find the trade-in price a bit of a shock so I wouldn't go down that route. If you put it on Pistonheads then just make sure the photo's are A1. This seems to make a hell of a difference in the response. I wasn't sure how my RS6 would fair when I put it up in various mags and websites. I got one phone call from the advert in the local paper and around 20 calls from pistonheads. Most were genuine and the car was sold in 9 days.
I never tried autotrader or Top Marques

Thanks for the responses guys - figures are more favourable than I initially expected! 8)

New rear PZero Rossos should make it more appealing to, yeah?

To clarify, the Nokia phone thing is integrated into the front centre armrest which is a tidy fitment

Also, I have 2x Recaro Start Pro Racer kids seats (in red & black so match the car brilliantly 8) ) which are fully extendable to 12yrs old, with integrated speakers so can be hooked up to iPod, MP3, DVD, PSP, DS, etc :D

I would tend to agree as my budget was a bit less than that and I was looking at older/higher mileage cars and was happy not to have warranty.

One downside I would point out is your location - you're a long way from most places which will put people off travelling (I don't know if the RS6 is quite rare enough to get people straight on a plane) and personally I would think twice before buying a car that has lived near the coast in Scotland for any length of time even if it wasn't the other end of the country to me. That is based on my being born in Dundee, growing up in Montrose and owning several cars there and knowing how much harder on them the environment is than the soft south, not any southerner's prejudice.

I know of five RS6's in the Aberdeen area. Like I say it took 9 days to sell mine. Regardless of where you live I think this car is known to people who really want one and if the paperwork and bodywork are right then I'm sure it'll sell quite fast

I'm not close enough to the market anymore to know local demand, but I do know that a few weeks ago when I was looking I dismissed anything in Scotland (not just RS6s, but M3 CSLs also before I ruled them out completely). I also know what a royal pain it was getting the suspension geometry set on a 944 Turbo I bought in Aberdeen because the fasteners were all corroded up.

It's just my personal view and I doubt many people would give the corrosion issue a second thought southerners don't think about it and until I moved south I suppose I had assumed it was the same eveywhere), but equally I'm pretty sure the distance puts off many potential buyers; simply due to relative population density most will be in the south. That said if someone in the area wants one at the right time then they would possibly favour the local car so it might not make a huge difference.

I sold my Mercedes C32 AMG in under a week thru pistonheads to a chap from North London - he flew up & paid by CHAPS, as there's direct flights from London City to Dundee, and I'm minutes from the airport :D

A similar scenario for the RS6 would be rather palatable

Hopefully it will work out like that. There was a CSL in Edinburgh that sold instantly on PH a few weeks back also.
