Hi guys, new guy here. As you can probably tell from my user name I live in Dubai and am currently looking at getting a 2004 RS6 Abt from Audi Abu Dhabi. The car is immaculate (white with red leather mmmm) also Abt tuned to 505bhp.

To be honest I had almost discounted the 911 and M5 I was looking at in favour of the RS6, but all this talk of DRC failure is making me very nervous, is it really as widespread as it appears on this forum?

Also a quick question re the PSS9's when these are put on I assume all the DRC gubbins is removed (lines, resvoirs etc?)

Cheers and here's hoping for some positive answers so I can convince the Mrs the RS6 is the one!

Welcome John.

First of all, yes, RS6 is the one :kissmyrings:

Regrettably, if the survey carried out on this forum is representative, then there is a relatively high rate of failure of the DRC.
However, you have obviously done your homework re the PSS9s, which seems the way to go. The DRC gubbins is indeed removed.

Just tell the Mrs you're doing it...

Is the DRC issue road salt related? I heard a rumour, that the leaks appear from joints, where there is an aluminium hose and a steel washer, causing chemical corrosion with water. The issue is worse with road salt. Easy fix would be changing to correct material washers when renewing the system. But of course, then it would not leak again, as some here report. Or are the UK roads the reason for DRC failures?

Is the issue really as wide spread as this forum makes you believe, outside UK? I think not, but I might be wrong.

I have read of DRC failures in the US where some report that their roads are not salted.

I don't think you'll regret buying the RS6 John, you'll only regret selling it.

Thanks for the encouragement, am going down for a test drive after I get back from Qatar/Bahrain next week. I'll make sure to ask all the relevant questions (tyres/brakes/service history/warranty claims etc). Have I have missed anything?

For info the dealer is Ali and Sons Audi in Abu Dhabi, for a laugh chack out some of the 2004 RS6's with <2000kms on them! Apparently bought by royalty driven and then garaged when the next toy came along! Google Audi Middle East and follow the link to Abu Dhabi.

PS just to make you sick 97 octane is about 1/4 the price of the UK! Costs me about £8 for 55 litres in the current mode of transport!

Will let you all know how I get on, but hopefully will be in an RS6 in the 3/4 weeks.

Welcome, you won't regret anything other than not getting one sooner. I miss mine immensly...

No Avants I see!

May I ask what you do in the M.E? I'm looking at setting up business links there (Qatar)

Anyway good luck, and 505bhp is just great, presume the gearbox is done too by ABT?
