race days

Post by philroach » Mon Apr 09, 2007 9:25 pm

has anyone done any 'training' days with audi , or any one else , in their rs6's?

having been brought up on front wheel drive -xr2 , pug 1.9 gti , and then saab 93aero , mixed with a few normal cars , the change to 4wd is big , together with all the power and torque , and i fancy being shown what the car can really do without losing my license or health !!

cheers

phil

I did one of the Audi days a few years ago when I got my RS4. Helpful day and great fun chucking their cars around. None of the other drivers on my course had an S or RS, many had 1.9TDi's and some had 2.4/2.8 A4's...I was quite surprised!

It was pretty good as a general course - they used the B7 S4, RS6 and the 3.2TT but not the B5 RS4. It was good to "play" with the cars in controlled circumstances with the instructors watching on and giving feedback. It was 2 "students" per car at all times and I remember the guy I was with got the RS6 totally out of shape and spun it at least 360 degrees...tyre smoke everywhere. The instructors comment (now say zis in zat bad German accent)..Don't you f**k my tyres"

It allowed you to "push the envelope" to test the cars handling without you having to worry about your own pride and joy. Not a cheap course, but good fun. I have since started to slowly hone my skills on track in order to enjoy the car more.

It may be a good idea to checkout the Prodrive day mentioned above.

if you want to learn the limits of a new car (and some new skills too) then for VFM you cant go wrong with a day on an airfield with an instructor 1 to 1 in your own car.

Ive done loads of days with Andy Walsh of www.carlimits.com - highly recommended
cheers
