HOWDY from a newbie!!!

Post by Lig » Sun Apr 08, 2007 7:16 am

Hi Chaps,

Just taken the plunge, and after selling my TVR Griff and the A6, decided to get an RS6. Just put down deposit, get the car in a couple of weeks.

Just thought I would say 'hello' :jump_clap: (big wave, not clap)!

I know this site will be of very good use to me, and hope I will be able to add to it in the future!

Looking forward to chating,

Lig.

Hi & welcome to the mad house , so what type of rs did you get ???

As for your questions , the sat nav is not bad but people are upgrading to the rns-e , as for brakes make sure they are very good when you buy it as a full set can cost £1200 . If you drive hard they could only last 5-7k .

Good luck and get some pics up for us. grizz

Hi Chaps,

Cheers for the warm welcome!!

The car is a Mugello Avant. I will post some pics next week when I get the car, but to be honest It will look like any other Mugello Avant - but it will be mine

Had a Griffith and an A6 and then had a son two years ago (what was I thinking??) I used to hillclimb the Griff, but really because of time, it wasnt getting the 'fettling' that it needed so I decided to sell it and put the money into Premium bonds.....3 months later.....and I really miss not having a 'nice' enthusiast type car and also wanted something that would be reliable and the RS6 fits the bill perfectly!!! - This is where you all tell me that they keep breaking down - but I know thats all lies!!

Oh well, I am sure I will have lots more questions when I get it.

Cheers Fellas - Roll on the sleepless nights till I get her!!

Hi Grizz,

Sadly I am not planning to pick up the car until the 19th, but will try and make the May meeting. I live in Ilkley so it will be a pleasant drive!!

What sort of meet is it? Just a general RS meeting? What cars do you get there and who organises it? Is there a club?? I assume the White House is a pub??

Cheers

Hi Lig, cheers, I have recently had some bodywork refettling done by an excellent classic car body repair shop near me due to some rather nasty stone chips and paintwork marks on the car and it has ceratinly made the difference......good luck with your new arrival!!!

One more to whet that appetite of yours........Dave

You might be in for a shock.

Mine has now been in the garage for neally 8 weeks now the RS is by far the biggest pile of cack I've ever owned. The TVR is now in use every day and the A4 hire car stays at home. Hope you have better luck than me hopfully I'll be getting my money back this week  Got a nice Cerbera lined up.

Jeez, thats damn bad luck there... Thankfully bad'uns are the exception rather than the norm. For a performace car, if you put DRC aside, the things are pretty bullet proof. Imagine if they were made by Merc, Jag or AM!!!
