Cheap Tyres ?

As others have mentioned, Goodyear F1 Eagles seem to be in short supply. Thinking of just putting on the original Pirelli PZero Rossi ... best quotes I have got so far are

www.mytyres.co.uk £163

www.tyretraders.com £159

Exclude fitting.

Anyone know of any places in London area, preferably south that can do better ? Will consider Contis, Michelin PS2s etc .... not really going to be tracking the car so not looking for ultimate performance, just good all round tyre with decent wear and low noise.

same here.

Always worth trying the big boys in case they have deals or are prepared to match a quote. KF, ATS?

Folk talk about http://www.blackcircles.com but I've found them expensive. Think those are good prices

Bob referenced Wikipedia on another thread an it was interesting to see the following
Also, 19" wheel & tire package may rub against the strut if not properly fitted. At least from one U.S. owner reports Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, part number 14875, will fit as the tire does not come with rim protector "lip" on the inner side of the tire.
I've had a set of PS2's rub, so that finally explains why... although how do you define "not properly fitted"????

Prices look good, I suppose with Pirelli releasing a new generation of P-Zero the dealers will be outworking the current stock.

As Bob advises above, its worth checking the mainstream dealers as I got a full set of PS2's at the equivalent of £170 a tyre fitted at Kwik Fit after a bit of haggling.

You are very right Steve, there are a specific version of the Michelin PS2 for the RS6. In fact, choosing RS6 tyres is a bit of a minefield. You also need to make sure the tyres are the Extra Load versions with a rating of at least XL 96 or higher. In addition need to go for the high speed versions.

I looked at the Kwik fit on-line prices .... what a joke ... wanted £290 a tyre! Will try calling a local branch and see if they offer a more sensible and competitive price.

BTW, the new Pirelli Zero Clubs will not be available in 255/35 according to the web site unfortunately. Seems we are stuck with the Rosso, which is not a bad tyre at all.

Yes, I've never found the Kwik Fit web site competitive, previously I've made a few calls around the usual suspects and then squared up with my local Kwik fit guy who has looked after me for the last 4 or 5 years and done a deal (which usually involves him having to call the regional manager for authorisation as the level of maximum discount that can be removed from the list price is controlled on the till by Big Brother at HQ!)

Regarding the Pirellis - had them on my RS4, and experienced a fair bit of tramlining once thery were wornish, anyone had this on the six?

I had quite a good experience with the P-Zero, great grip, wear was slightly uneven toward the end of the life of the tyre, and with it being a softer tyre the ride quality was good considering such a low profile... but being cheaper than the Michelin PS2 proved to be a false economy in the long term as the PS2's are a good 50% to 80% more durable, yet still stunning grip. I must have the mileage recorded somewhere to demonstrate. Depends how much mileage your doing, mine has reduced dramatically now so I would consider the P-Zero again.

I actually did have a chat with Surbiton tyres .... well, about alloy refurbishment. Quoted me £260+VAT for s set of four. However, their prices on tyres are not the most competitive ..... F1 Eagles were quoted something like 185 each.
