New RS6 Driver Says Hello

Post by Shaggy » Sat Mar 10, 2007 10:28 am

Hi all,

I will probably be around here alot from next week as I pick up my 04 RS6 (Pic from dealer below)

Image

So I thought I would say hello and introduce myself.

I am 34, married, 1 kid 2 dogs and I like cars and shotguns :) I am a Business Continuity Manager and work for Grupo Santander.

I started SEATCupra.net up back in the day when I drove a SEAT Leon Cupra. Since then I progressed onto a Subaru WRX STi and then onto a Range Rover of all things.

Since I saw the RS6 I have always wanted one. I have always wanted a red one, and I always wanted an Avant, so next week (Thur or Fri) will be a good day for me.

I have spoken to Revo already and plan to have the stage 3 software installed.

That's it, that's me.

Nice to meet you all.

Welcome Shaggy !

Get it remapped pronto mate , coz in standard guise, they're not all that, a mapped Cupra R would give it a good run for its money.

What is the Stage 3 software from Revo? How different is that to the other stages as I thought they only did one standard version?

"Revo Stage 3 software has been specifically developed to compliment a proven package of extensive engine modifications. It allows the user to choose one of several turbo charger upgrades in addition to exhaust and intake upgrades. Our Stage 3 tuning is very aggressive and depending on the hardware package you opt for will yield up to 200% power gains over standard horsepower figures*. For this software to run efficiently and reliably, a strict hardware build list must be adhered to. The individual tested components are listed on each specific car’s application pages. The optional SPS 3 is highly recommended for this range of software to guarantee the optimal performance gains achievable.

Stage 3 software disclaimers: Revo Stage 3 software has been developed to operate within specific parameters according to manufacturer’s tolerances and aftermarket manufacturer’s hardware specifications. Installing Revo software on vehicles with hardware modifications other than those specified can cause unsatisfactory performance and possible engine damage".

Holy crap!!!!

Since they do not modify the transmission ECU, I don't think their engine remap is going to be as agressive as say the likes of MTM.
Apparently their map backs off on the torque for the shift points, so as to avoid the hunting on the box.
So still a bit dubious on their "Stage 3" claims

Me too, are you going to take advantage of the free Revo trial Shaggy before going the whole hog?....

Welcome Shaggy. With your relationship with Revo, I'm sure any potential problems will be easily ironed out.

welcome ..im sure you will enjoy it :)

...I like the bullshit power claims these tuning firms have - "200%" ..so with a couple of big turbos and the Revo III you will be making 900bhp? ;) LOL

..Id just get a custom remap from one of the specialists myself, rather than a generic plug in jobbie
cheers

Thanks for all the replies guys.

As Phil mentions I have a good relationship with REVO, hence my reason for chooing them ;)

I will be spending a half day with them and a laptop plugged in :)

Welcome Shaggy and I guess we'll be seeing a lot more of you soon, Nice write up/introduction by the way.

I would ask the dealer for one thing though, that numberplate looks knackered, get another one ;)

Nice looking in red 8)

Yeah, the number plate does look a bit shagged :)

As for the Re-Map yes it will be a custom map. Have a read here for more info about the REVO RS6 stuff http://www.revotechnik.com/products/sof ... x?pvID=204

Its good, it has a anti theft setting too which I have seen in action.

The reason I know these guys are good for what they offer is I have known them since the day they started. When I drove up to there HQ to get my Cupra sorted out there company car was......... an RS6.

I know for a fact they spent many many hours on that getting it right.

I had Revo on my RS4, fantastic power, never missed a beat.
But I heard they had some problems intitally with the RS6 map, theres some posts on rs6.com about this.
Although I think they may have ironed those out now.
Best thing about them is that you can switch back to standard, for trips to the dealers.
Which you'll find comes in very handy ;)

Yeah, that option to switch is very handy indeed.
