Has anyone upgraded their CD SatNav plus to the DVD unit. Apparently run out A6's and late Allroads had the DVD system. Is it just a matter of taking out the old unit ,unplugging and re installing the dash unit or are other bits and wiring needed. Anyone in the South East able to do this? Just had leaking H20 rad changed under extended warranty. Re Tyres F1's are fine but using Contis as they were cheaper and they grip well. Were bout 100 each fitted. Also on 4th windscreen in 3 years.!!

Your question i can't answer but it has been discussed over the last month or two.
Your tyres though! £100 a corner

Is this for the 19"?
And 4th windscreen in 3 years. Front or back and why replaced?
Thanks

Craigyb seems to be the only one who can do this for you, he's in Manchester. I've not seen RNS-D but the E is better by all accounts. Still don't understand why the people who make these things don't know how to fit them, but there we go. Craig I understand does a lot of work for Audi, he must be making a fortune.
Just had a chip in my second windscreen in 6 months. But then again, I'm an unlucky b@stard.

Yes RNS-E units can be fitted, very straightforward, literally plug and play.
Just need the necessary wiring adaptors to fit.
I have one if you need it.
Can also provide instructions if you fancy doing this yourself.

Tyres were 19 x 255 35's and got from Treads in Ramsgate, Mick is the Man. Re w/screens , all front with bad chips through outer laminate and one blew a 9" crack on a very hot day owing to trapped moisture. Oddly the bonnet has not a stone chip but the front valance is like a smallpox victim. My BMW E34 M5 had one w/screen in 245000 miles yet the bonnet was so pocked and had 2 resprays because of chips

I'm interested in converting to DVD and don't mind taking a crack at it myself so long as its not rocket science. Let me know what you want for it.

sorry, crossed wires

thought it was the RSN-E someone was selling, not the wiring adapter.

Take a look on eBay. There are quite a few for sale, but beware the ones from Latvia and Lithuania

You just need to be alittle careful. The transfer of the unit is relativeley easy although I understand the cars electronic brain needs a bit of a tickle to get all the functionality but the existing tv tuner that you have will not work and this needs replacing together with appropriate wiring loom which is a pain. If you ae not near Craigyb ( i.e. in the south) then there is a place called audiotronics (ithink) in West yfleet who will install all the bits though they do not supply the units. RNS-E functionality is loads better and Sat nav more accurate e.g it actualy identifies Kingston on thames as a place rather than as a part of Richmond!!

If you search the forums, you will find that I did this upgrade myself, with very little problem. If anyone, within reach of Reading, needs a hand, I'm quite happy to assist.
