Hi Guys - Similar to my last topic..
What can you suggest when buying RS6 nowadays from Audi or Private..
All cars seem to have FSH so why bother with AUDI and theyre famously great customer service NOT !!
Your comments plZ..

I suppose its a case of aftersales service/protection. If your spending such a large amount of money on a car you want some protection in the purchase unless its a ridiculous private bargain. You get a free 12 Month Audi warranty from a dealer but then again you could buy private and pay Audi about £1500 for a warranty. If you compare what you pay private in comparison to the premium you pay at a dealer... that is essentially your risk pot.
I had a few aftersales issues that were resolved by a dealer which would not have been covered by warranty such as warped brake discs which saved me lots of £'s.
You pays your money, you takes your risk.

Dealers have a massive markup, around 3-5k on rs6's as there is a lot of prep time and costs involved before it can hit the forecourt.
If you know what you're doing, I suggest you buy privately, so you can drive down the price and get it much cheaper than dealer prices. Just make sure you get one with Audi extended warranty, if not budget for £1500 as Steve suggests.

But i don't think you can extend the warranty if it's run out.
If you buy private, make sure it has at least a little warranty left so you can extend it.

IIRC you can extend it after its expired, but it is subject to a "full inspection" that they charge you for, thats why I put £1500 as its about £1250 for the warranty and £250 for the inspection.

40K is major service about £500, add Cam belt at £800 if at the 3yr mark.
The usual suspects around that mileage is discs, pads and tyres... Although unlikely at the same time, its a case of buyer beware... Check that your not in for a worst case scenario of £1300 service; £1000 tyres; £1500 brakes; £1500 warranty; Insurance, tax, tracker subscription, road angel subscription, fuel... It can add up at the same time, if your not careful.

Bob, you really need to get out and about more

, is your engine run in yet?
I assume your on annual servicing regime, I can't remember what plate yours is? I assume you alternate minor/major in years instead of every 10k miles!? Cam belt at 3 yrs instead of 60K.

54 Plate, Steve, so 3 years old in September. I've had the car one year, so do they calculate over time if that's greater? Never really stopped to think about how variable servicing works. Der.

Yes, time or mileage, whichever comes first. In theory you'd have had Minor Sept '05, Major Sept '06 Inc brake fluid which is every two years, and the Minor and Cam Belt Sept '07. The RS6 does not run on longlife/variable servicing like other Audi's do. Thats what I remember, but best bet is to grab your service book as the guide is pretty clear. It could be that the first owner had the first minor service at 6 months old and now your running annually to March dates?
