whining noise

Hi guys,
My RS6 seems to have a whining noise (quite loud), not unlike the sound of power steering on full lock (power steering fluid level seems fine)
The noise seems to increase in pitch with speed, not revs.
Any ideas what it might be, no noticable lack of performance or gearbpx doing anything untowards.
I have audi warranty but they cant get it in for a few weeks,
Cheers.

Is this the noisy air-conditioning fan the some people complain about?
(If you think it is, try switching to "econ").

yes - I queried that too when I got mine and was told its normal...switch aircon off at a standstill and if it goes away its the aircon...sounds like its coming from under the bonnet front right hand side?

That "aircon"sound your talking about sounds great when you start her up.
After 10 sec's of start up there's a sound of what sounds like a baby jet engine starting up behind the dash. (kid at heart)
Not i guess, the sound Craig's talking about.
Anyway, work tomorrow. Night! (if anyones up

Yeh mine did that aswell, I thought it was well cool !!
Sounds like you may have other issues though craig, as the guys say, turn your heater OFF, and report back.

have tried with heater off etc, no difference. Its so loud u can hear it over the noise of the engine, car working fine though.

Could it be the Bank Manager, or an ecologist trapped under the bonnet??

sounds just like mine and supposedly normal - try switching the actual aircon off and turning the heat up so it dosent kick in
