Any Advice on Purchase of 03 Saloon

Hi Everyone,

I have just put down a deposit at an Audi Dealer for a Black RS6 Saloon with Silver leather. The car has had one owner and has covered 49,000miles. They had the car for nearly 4 months when I went to see it last weekend, so I got a good deal on it I think. It appears to be a well looked after car and apart from the Leather door cards looking like they have come unstuck in places, I couldn't fault the car when I saw it. Took it for a test drive, scared the salesman by racing a 355 Spider at about 140! (well it wasn't much of a race after a while, as the spider couldn't keep up)

So just wanted to say a slightly premature HI !!

I should be getting the car at the end of next week, and have checked that it had the timing belt service. Are there any other common problems that I should be asking the dealer to perhaps investigate in the meantime while I am waiting for them to sort out the door cards? I drove the car and the suspension felt ok ( It felt a little firm, but I think that is to be expected, based on reading some posts on hear). I know the car has the 12 month Audi Warranty so If there is anything that usually isn't covered by the Warranty then this would be a great help. I will post some pics on here when I get the car.

Many thanks

A superb choice of car/colour/leather, even if I do say so myself  :D

aside from the obvious bits that Dave correctly advises... Some more obscure things:
Gearchange - You would have already noticed on your test drive, but a few people have had issues I believe.
DRC Suspension - Ask them to visually triple check that there arent any leaks
Tyre valve corrosion - As they are fixed valves as such, take the dust caps off and check that the threads arent corroded
Alloys - If they've refurbed them, check the quality of the refurb finish
Buy a boot liner from Audi, they're only about £30 and protect that pristine boot space
Get them to throw a litre bottle of oil in the spare wheel well
Check if it has a tracker already fitted, your insurer will probably insist and most RS6's came with them from new.
Beg, steal and borrow an RS246 sticker from this website
Buy some swissol wax (Saphir for about £70), dont waste money on Autoglym lifeshine, its pants!
Finally, dont tell your bank manager (the wife) how much they cost to run, its expensive but very very worth it.

Thanks guys for all the tips, they have been forwarded to the Audi Dealer. He said something like "we have minimum standards that give you piece of mind when buying from any Audi dealer.....Bla..bla." So I asked him to check them out anyway again in that case, so it shouldn;t take too long then !

Yes it is a great colour, will look even better I think with some rear privacy glass :)

Cheers
