about to agree a deal, anything I have missed?

Post by craigvmax » Mon Jan 08, 2007 12:46 pm

Guys,

About to agree a deal on a 2003 RS6 avant. standard, 2 owners, from a main dealer. However, they are a long way away so deal is being done over phone.

Anything I should look out for? it's done 45k, has had belts done, doesnt need service until next dec. It has sunroof, rear park sensors.

Anything else? any must have options? (I assume they all have sat nav & tv)

Thanks,

Craig

Discs and pads (and obviously tyres) are expensive - make sure there's plenty of life in them. Also there was an option to downgrade to to 18" alloys on the RS6 (RS4 style). Make sure it has the 19's on! Also, you will have read reports on the DRC suspension having a few problems with leaks etc... I guess this would be covered under warranrty, but it would nice to get your car 100% when it was delivered.

As above .... but also

Check for clunks in the gearbox while driving off.

Check for whine in the power steering (move full lock left to right)

Check tyres for even wear (steering on full lock)

Check A/C works.

Something i would ask them to do is to email you pictures of each wheel.

All the RS6's i looked at had really bad wheels due to kerbing and in my opinion a badly kerbed wheel can make a lot of difference to the look of the car.

RS6 comes pretty fully loaded and you will have front parking sensors too :D

Where are you and where is the dealer, If it's close to the Guildford area I wouldn't mind having a look over the car for you at some point this week.

let me know.

By the way, when I say "have a look", I do mean from a cosmetic angle not mechanically. Dents, inside wear, tyres, etc ;)

Actually black cars soak up more heat so you tend to have the air-con more in summer, hence the car will actually be SLOWER :)

nice try, but in fact, black cars turn more heads, creating a small but potent vacuum. Hence a faster car.
