Car and Home Security

Hi to all, been on here a while without registering as I have been waiting till I got a 6 before I joined the exclusive "club".

However I thought i had better pass this information on to you as a sobering "heads up"

Recently, in the North West there has been an increase in domestic burglaries involving the theft of high performance / value vehicles.

The cars are selected and homes burgled specifically to obtain the keys due to the sophisticated nature of the imobiliser and alarms fitted to these vehicles.

I am aware of at least two thefts of RS6 models and and attempt theft of an M5 in the last month by a gang operating in the North of England.

Whilst I accept some degree of negative response as there will be those who will not like a cop in their midst, I am acting in good faith to warn you of this rising type of crime.

Please keep your ignition keys in a safe place when you get home and check your security.

Remember, just cos your car is fitted with Tracker, won't stop it getting nicked for a few hours and screwed.

I nearly refrained from buying the RS6 becuase of risk of burglary or car jacking, but why let the scumbags stop you from enjoying life. Life is full of risks, I would never stop anyone taking the beast, its a wonderfull car but at the end of the day its simply that, a car, and its got insurance. Had a hotel room broken into before and had my laptop stolen, it was a real pain, but within a few days I'd got a new machince and restored my files from my back-up drive so overall I was better off as I'd got a brand spanking laptop. (interestingly they caught the thieving scum, I offered the police £500 for him to recover the old laptop but apparantly its against the law to offer cash).

This summer after having my RS6 4 days, my house was broken in to and the car stolen. (nothing else taken)

Police say that it was stolen to order by a gang in the area.

Shame they didnt catch them. Also the Police seem to think that they look on this internet site. I posted pics of the RS6 on here and forgot to blank the plate so please always make sure you do this.

I have had to spend a lot of money on IP cameras at home and a good alarm for the house since this has happend. Just the thought of someone being in your house is a scary feeling. (especially for the other half)

If you get an RS6 i would always suggest a house alarm after what happend to me.

It so heart breaking when you come home from work and find that your pride and joy has been stolen.

Cheers

Baz

How does does showing the plate help them? If they get into the house i'd rather they found the keys than ask me to get them for them!! Surely they shouldn't be on view but not too well hidden?
