Did a search but couldn't find the answer.
On a std RS6 is it advised to use super unleaded or is normal unleaded OK.
I would imagine on a remapped ecu super unleaded is advised but not sure about a std RS.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the quick reply,
Just to confirm...... normal 95 ron is not advised on the RS6?
GOT to be 98+ ron
(he that asks will be laughed at for a minute, he who doesn't will be the fool in the long run

)

Recommended on 97 upwards, but you wont harm it with 95. Plenty of 97-99 around these days though so you should always be able to find some.

I had this dilemma also for a split second... you are perfectly OK with 95 RON, its still a high grade fuel in comparsion to much of the world marketplace and nowhere near enough difference to create any issue of precombustion "pinking". If you lived in the States and got some nasty fuel in the low 80's then you are likely to experience a few issues.
Don't get too fished in by the marketing ploys of adverts/graphic images of piston chambers being sparkly clean in an Optimax fed engine in comparison to a dirty chamber because of using nasty lesser mortal fuels. There is a lot of artistic license used there!
Essentially your looking at a slight reduction in power with 95RON as manufacturers peak output figures are based on the higer octane rating. I believe you are correct that if your getting a Stage 1 remap, its fine tuning the permissable octane band for the engine.
You can run on 95 as the norm and then treat yourself to higher octane for that little bit extra (even 102+) if your looking to push the boundaries and release all the Cosworth might.

95RON shouldn't cause any damage - the owner's handbook states that it can be used if 98RON isn't available.

Possibly good advice, but I noted an immediate 10% improvement in economy when I switched from Esso Super to Optimax. However, the jury is still out on V-Power.

However, the ECU takes some time to adjust to a better quality fuel - you probably won't be obtaining full benefit within the first tankfull.

Doesn't the owner's manual say that full acceleration shouldn't be used when using 95 RON?
Typical, we're all men and no-one admits to reading the manual!
