I bought an S4 Avant (2000, V Reg) last October and even though I love the car I cannot resist the lure of an RS6.... I saw these 2 Avants on Pistonheads http://pistonheads.com/sales/90489.htm
http://pistonheads.com/sales/103359.htm
and was wondering if anyone knew anything about these cars or has any general advice as they seem decent deals when the warranties are considered???

Any help greatly appreciated.

The first one, I believe, was sold on piston heads for around 28k (50k miles?) with that seller claiming he needed to sell fast because of a messy divorce. The car sold, and while the advert was still up on pistonheads (sold) it another advert appeared from the new owner, asking around £32k (52k miles?) but with the number plate blanked, so I think someone was looking for a quick profit as the original price was a bit of a bargain.

Daytona grey is my preference (mine is daytona with silver leather) it's a much more striking colour than the silver, in photos and in the metal. Having the warrantee is a must, check what type of warrantee it is (if it's not an "official" Audi warrantee then check the T&Cs for claim limits etc).
It's a lot of car for the money and I don't think either of them will depreciate much over the next year.

Thanks Rupert. I will check out the number of owners of the Daytona Grey one, from the picture it looks as if there is some significant wear to the side of the passenger seat but maybe just a photographic glitch. Will have to wait and see it in the flesh....

The daytona grey one is the second one with the silver leather.
The first one looks like silver but with a blue-ish tinge? Maybe just the photo.
There may be some fading of the black leather seats (to brown).

When I was looking, I noticed a few cars which had not been looked after the leather had gone hard and did not look great.

The leather in mine is nice and soft and has obviously been treated with the right stuff to keep it supple.

no

i pretend that i bought the plate off van morrison but really the wife bought an old Merc 500SL (sue ellen version) with the plate on and we have kept it ever since. NO reason I guess other than I suppose we buy cars 1-3 years old and this hides tha age a little
