Most of you have already found out that our cars are more suited for the drag strip as opposed to the track. Mass seems to be the problem here. Therefore I ask you, where can some of it be shed pre trackday with the view to putting everything back afterwards? I know the rear seats for one......

There is a big lump of metal in front of the front wheels that doesnt help the balance of the car, but unfortunately its the engine.
A completely different approach, in all seriousness, you could put two or three 20kg bags of cement in the boot, you've enough horses to cope with it and although it would affect outright accelleration, it could reduce lap times of a track with better ballance!?

I would expect that increased roll control at the back would make the biggest difference....

not much you can strip out that will make a difference - youd have to lose 100Kg + from a 1850Kg car to notice I reckon
if you really want to track it regular then you need different suspension, upgraded ARB, different brakes and sticky tyres .....otherwise Id leave it as is and enjoy it for what it can do as standard ....learn to drive it smooth and slow in fast out through the corners ...
I still think if you want to do trackdays regular then the cost of consumables you will pay for say over a years worth of trackdays would be you a nice used Lotus Elise just for track !

Bogie, did you see the lotus here?:
http://rs246.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB ... 528#131528 I still haven't tried an elise or exige out yet since your top tips, I must get my act together and get down to a dealer to see if I fit in one being such a lanky bugger.

yes - its Kens car - he just got it at auction in Germany ...its actually the only protoype of the Lotus Esthi - A German uber-Elise - widened body and chassis, RS4 2.7V6 bi-turbo engine running about 420bhp in 960Kg
it was featured in Evo magazine when it was first due to release....but it never made production ....Ken had one on order but they never delivered....and he was lucky to pick up the prototype at auction for a bargain price....If I had known about the sale I would have been there myself...it would make the basis for the ultimate Elise derivative

oh Steve - sure you will fit - I have a few friends that are 6'4" to 6'7" that own Elises ....they have removable steering wheels, short shift on the gearstick (so it will clear your left leg) and drive on track with the roof off (helmet wont fit with roof on!) ....but other than that its no problem
....unless of course you are like 20stone as well .......tall and slim is fine.....but even with 2 x 15stone guys in there and you are touching shoulders

Radical ! Yeah baby! Thats the real way to go.
I honestly just dont see the point of tracking the RS6. Its just so heavy, and understeery that I bet it wont be half as fun as even a £8k S1 Elise. The cost of tracking it also is prohibitive in my opinion. It will go through discs/pads and tyres at an alarming rate, not to mention fuel ! 6 or 7 track days in a year with an RS6 would probably cost you a second hand Elise.
Have a look at the Ariel Atom as well with the supercharged Honda VTEC engine. This was quick as an Enzo around the Top Gear track. Benefits of the Ariel is that it can be used on the road as well .... the Radical ground clearance is just too low to be used around the roads.
