Very Very loud whistling noise under accereration?

Hi all, just been out in the RS6 and under heavy acceleration there is a VERY VERY loud whistling coming from the underside of the car - like an extremely exaggerated turbo whistling noise. It seems rev rather than speed related.
Very odd - sounds like very high speed air escaping or (although less likely) a high pitch metal grinding noise.
Totally gutted as the car has just fallen out of warranty.
Anyone come across this before?

Could possibly be one of the lower intercooler pipes has come adrift, it does happen on the RS6, saw one the other day which had done the same thing on the lower N/S pipe, just needed removing, cleaning and a new clip fitting. This does require a ramp of course though and this would make it easy to spot.

Thanks mate - it was exactly what you said. Audi sent a technician out as a goodwill gesture (as my warranty elapsed in May) and he diagosed the same thing, put the car on a jack and fixed it in 20 minutes. Thanks Audi!
He has seen it once before (last month).
I'm glad it wasn't a turbo bearing, that aparently requires a minimum of 16 hours of labour, and is an engone-out job.
He strongly suggested keeping the RS6 under warranty.
Cheers

Blimey your car wasn't under warranty and a technician was sent to your home as a goodwill gesture?
Good for you! I'll have to remember that.

Well would you beleive it. I just was going to search for any posts on this topic (whining) and low and behold you have the same problem.
On my way home on Saturday and noticed the same very loud turbo air rush. Thought it sounded great and power seemed ok but was a little worried.
Lukily my warranty runs till end of October although original Audi works warranty ran out 5 weeks ago.
Off to the dealer tomorrow to try to sort.

Spooky! Should take only a few minutes on a proper ramp, and as far as I am told it doesn't damage the car.
It was so loud when I was going c. 80mph@4k ish revs - a friend of mine was driving alongside and thought it must have abeen a noise from his car.

Mine sounded like some Japanese turbo monster on full boost about to take off. Couldn't believe it at first. Can now!

Called in at Northampton Audi today dead on 8am without notice and thanks to the technician, had it on the ramp at 8.10 and clip fixed on the hose by 8.20am.
At work by 8.30am.
Not bad!
