Post by fenny123 » Tue Jul 04, 2006 12:53 am

It's time for that yearly shock, anyone got any recomendations ??

Norwich Union are sniffing a line and want £1,209 (4yrs no claims, business use for me & partner. 1 * SP30 and 1 claim less than £500 for driver 2, 20k miles). Standard Saloon car.

PS - ages 37 & 46

Would be intersesting 2 see the range of prices we are all paying

Just had my renewal through from Admiral ... 29 yrs old with wife (also 29) as a named driver - no points (...yet), 8 years no claims, protected no claims, £400 excess, all other usual insurance stuff:

Without mods - £617.40
With mods (stage 3 conversion full exhaust & engine chip) - £925.05

Thing that gets me is that I'm paying an extra £300 for mods that aren't covered by the policy so if it gets nicked I don't get anything back for the 5k I've spent on mods - so why the extra premium?. I tried the usual mod friendly companies (Adrian Flux, etc) but they were massively wide of the mark price wise (Adrian Flux = £1499.86).

Bazz is a lucky lad. When I was 24 I had a 918cc side valve 1952 Moggie Minor which did 65 mph with a following wind down hill. I think the quote you got was VERY good esp as under the magic 25 y o

Because it increases the risk to third parties, ie, you've increased the power/acceleration and thus become a bigger risk and increased the potential for an accident
