SD card slots

finally got two 1Gb cards loaded with albums and in the car.
for those of you that havent used the card slots for music and havent got an expensive Phatbox or similar I thoroughjly recommend sorting it. It cost me £10 for a card read/writer and £30 for two 1Gb cards and now I have another 30 albums of music permanently in the car plus the CD multichanger of another 6. Not bad for £40.
As in the past I have listened to 1 album for up to 3 months I cannot see me needing any better than this.
Laos just managed to work out how to chose between albums?files on the system which was really bugging me as the first time I loaded up the card I could only play one album. By pressing the return button you get a list of all files/albums and also you can select randon and repeat play either across the whole card or just on album.
great budget system.

It's all I've ever needed, although I find if I'm on shuffle and want to skip that track it defaults back to "not" shuffle again. You find this? Otherwise I love it - plenty of songs for me, as I just have 50 or so one hit wonders. There aren't many albums I can sit through, I get bored. Apart from the great Rod Stewart and equally good but slightly smaller Paul Simon.

sorry for sounding stupid, but what SD card slots are you talking about?
Are there ones in the RS6?
Cheers

There are in a Plus as it has RNS-E, not sure if they are on the CD-based system. Didn't think so, Shimmy has had an upgrade done I think?

I thought they would only take 256K each. Sounds good and will try it. What sample rate are you using?

With that simple question you have already bettered my knowledge of IT and recording. I have no odea but each song is about 3-5Mb I guess so about 50-75Mb + per album.
I also thought 256Mb was the limit but seems others had done it with bigger cards so chanced my luck and hey presto!.

I find 128bit to be adequate for use in the car. Perhaps that's just my ears getting old, but I can tell the difference between 128/160/192 bits on the home system.

128 bit here too, sometimes 192.
The only reason we were led to believe 256mb is because that was the biggest size that existed when the manual was printed!

Yes, probably true Bob, I must get a couple of 1GB
Also use 128, more than adequate in the car.
