Hi, I am trying to dig out infomation on the new RS6 but seems there is not much noise about it. Will Audi ever bring one out this time?? I am looking at E55 and M5 but I really wanted to see what Audi can offer.

My contacts in Audi tell me that there will be a new RS6 but they are not sure what the specification will be as there are a number of options, including two new engine options.

The service tech at my local dealer told me there will be a new RS6 and he believes it will have a pair of turbos, and will have c.550bhp.
I'm not sure I believe the turbo thing - the S6 and the RS4 have bot gone for N/A engines... such a shame.

I heard that the Audi will start taking orders for the V10 Lambo engined S6 in April, with first deliveries maybe as early as June, and that the new RS6 will be announced before year end. I would be very surprised if Audi did not release an RS version of the 6, as they are firmly committed to expanding the RS brand in order to take on BMW M-Power and Merceded AMG. I would also expect the new RS6 to have more power than than the current M5, and be around the same price (maybe a shade higher). Whether it will be a turbo I dont really know, but my gut feeling is that it wont be. Its just going to have to be one hell of a car though ... had a go in the new M5 around Rockingham recently ... wow!

The Audi driving experience fleet is running RS4's from April, together with 3.2 V6TT and to start with a 4.2 A6 which is to be replaced by the S6 "in the summer".

Just hearsay from my dealer so give it as much credance as you wish, but while testing the new RS4 today he mentioned they'd be using the same engine in the new RS6 but with twin turbos. 600bhp is exepected and a price tag of c.£70K

I think it unlikely that Audi will use a TT version of the RS4 V8 -- why use a V8 for a top line model when the model below uses a V10 ??? -- even if the V8 runs 600bhp
I suspect whatever engine they use -- we won't see it coming !! -- there is a hell of a lot of engine development in the VAG group as a whole at the moment, including Lambo with the V10 & V12
But if we stick with the TT route how about a TT V10 ??
I think it's doubtfull they will TT the RS6 -- after all they appear to be moving to higher capacity normally aspirated engines - less packaginh / heat problems with two stonking great turbo's in the way!!
But don't hold your breath, I doubt will get so much as a sniff of the RS6 untill the end of next year, at the earliest.

don't think its a case of biggest engine we can find and put it in an audi, from what i gather audi are trying to improve handling and and control in their cars so NA engines and not too much weight in front,, i think

My crystal ball suggests that the RS6 will use the V10 engine, probably the 5.4L derivative, normally aspirated, and pushing out 500bhp, or just a little more. It probably won't be appearing for a couple of years.
