Replacing discs and pads - how much have you paid?
Replacing discs and pads - how much have you paid?
Done a search and its seems it the past people have paid about £1000 for replacement discs and pads.
I have just been quoted £1500.
The gap between the normal smooth and cross-drilled seems to have widened too.
Quoted £175 for smooth front and £237 for cross-drilled.
Can you let me know what you've paid or been quoted?

RE: Replacing discs and pads - how much have you paid?
and how often do you change yours?
I know it depends on driving 'style' etc but we can average that out if we get a few replies.

Morning,
In order, i paid around £1000 for new discs all round (drilled) & about £390 for front pads & £100 for rears, so £1500 is bang on the money.
The gap has widened between regular & drilled discs, as when my where last replaced (about 9months ago) the regular discs were only £15 per corner cheaper than drilled.
As for replacing, that does depend on your driving style & activity. As you drive like a girl
you'll probably get over 40K from the discs & 20K from the pads. JK, you're probably looking at an average of new discs every 22K ish miles & new front pads every 12K miles, rears probably be replaced with the discs at 22K.
That's only an estimate, my discs last about 12K miles & front pads about 6K miles.

I can expand slightly, as my RS6 had it's 3rd service yesterday & the report back was front pads 90% worn & front discs only got a few months life left in them.
Both were replaced 5 months ago & 6500 miles ago, so bang on the money really. Discs will probably see another 4000 miles, pads will need changing straight away.
As for price, i found my old receipt & total cost for the 4 drilled discs & front pads was just under £1400 including vat.
To be fair though, the car has done Nurburgring (3 days), Oulton Park track day & 2 VMAX's since the last change of consumables. They also spotted that the tyres had just over 1mill tread on the outer edges & over 5mill in the centres. So that's about £2500 to shell out over the next few weeks.

All this is very different to my experience! I use my car mainly for long distance (predominantly motorway) journies. It's currently on about 23k miles and is still running original pads, discs and tyres.
Oh, and for a lot of the time, there's an interactive speed limiter sitting to my left!

Mine has only covered 26000 miles & i'm about to take my 3rd set of tyres, 4th set of pads & 3rd set of discs. All in all, about £8000 of consumables with this next set in almost the same mileage covered.

Just negotiated a cost price part replacement brakes as part of car purchase.
Dealer confirmed they make a 20% on the brake parts, so bear that in mind the next time you purchase. At £1200 - 1500 depending on which option you take worth attempting to negotiate.
I am getting a trusted mechanic to change them over, don't see the point in paying Audi's £100+VAT approx per hour fee for ordinary grunt work.

There's a full set of brand new drilled discs & pads on ebay. All boxed up and being sold by a power seller so legit I would think ...
