Having made several phone calls, I am infomed from Bristol audi that on my 40,000 mile service my cam belt needs replacing,£750 +,on ringing Bath they say they have recived a memo this week saying 70,000 and have agreed to put it in writing,??????????????????????????????????

Not 100% sure - reading the post on it needing inspecting at 20k at a cost of £400, (which was not in the service book), Audi revised the requirements.. The I read that they have now changed their mind and it needs replacing at 40k...
My car went in for it's 20k s week ago and the dealer kindly reminded me to save up for the 40k cam belt change - £1,000...
BUT Audi may have changed their mind again ???

Ask them for a copy of the memo
I'd say that if your ring Audi CS, they will be able to let you know their latest thinking !!

Getting 40,000 service at bath audi tommorow, I will hopefully get the mail on it in person, I want it in writing and signed,not the type of thing you want snapping , thanks for your imput

Would interested to know the outcome, both in terms of cost and it you get the memo and what it says.

Got memo in front of me 60,000 miles or 3 years,90 000 km. however when it needs doing they have quoted £1200.

So it is now 60 and not 70 ?
Is there any chance that you can scan the memo and submit it to the forum for our future referance as well ?

Sorry tried to post memo on here,even got the guy in the internet shop to help but computer says no,keeps saying its to big,any help appreciated,step by step would be good,computers and me just do not get on

Did we get the definitive answer on this? Is it 60k miles or 3 years.

The belt interval has recently changed, your svc book will say 40k but the Audi bods have now sent out an up to date cambelt interval sheet and it now states that its changed at 60k. from what i've read there is no specified time just mileage. Hope this clears everything up!

Do they still do a cambelt check earlier? I have asked the dealer to do this as a condition of sale and give me a report to cover me.

Will try Audi CS and see what they say too
