first thought son RS6 compared to M5

Well

did a few miles to day after she was delivered this morning. it is not really the time to compare my previous E39 M5 and the RS6 as I had that for 4 years and this for 4 hours (so far) but what the hell.

But for now here are my thoughts so far.

Most of the negative items are the little things I am used to and now dont seem to be there like the multi func st.wheel, electric memory seats, GSM on the st.wheel (cannot seem to get the phone in the RS6 to work, does GSM phone prep mean that something stills needs to be done before it will work even when you have acradle and phone installed). I am sure this will, just be a time thing to get used to these changes.

Growl is magnificent. Had two people stop me in 10 mins and say how good she looked (did have the window open in the rain to hear the engine noise). Never had that many comment on the move in 4 years with the M5.

Road holding was superb. It was damp after rain all morning but not a hint of grip loss even though I was testing out the tarmac on the roundabouts. M5 would have been twitching and lighting up the DSC at every sharp turn.

Bumped into a 1999 BMW B12 (7 series) Alpina which looked stunning and tried to catch up for a race as he was moving like he was up for it but traffic at the roundabouts was not kind so did not get near, shame.

Road noise and ride is definitely firmer but not louder (tyres the same as M5). Firmer ride is nto bad though but waiting for the wife to complain

Finally power delivery both in D and especially in S is not as good/smooth as the M5. The auto box does jolt you around a bit if you boot it whereas the M5 was always under control with the manual box. Particularily noticable up to 80 mph where the changes up and kick down is so fierce.

I am looking forward to the next few years and will let you all know how the comparison goes after some more miles are done with some more detail next time when it is more relevant.

You'll be wanting the BT phone prep and new nav system then to give you back full control of your phone etc.

you might well be right and if i was closer to Manc land then I would be already knocking on your door.
