A Fair Deal??

Post by Bradders » Wed Sep 14, 2005 1:47 pm

Have an RS4 on order, due around Feb (delayed from Oct). Currently running a Mini Cooper S Works as my only car (sold the Noble M12 GTO-3R in July), but I am getting a tad bored with the mini.

Had a chat with the dealer who took my order on the RS4, and he says he can do me the following "interim" deal. PX the mini against an 03(53) RS6 (24K miles, usual extras). He's offered 12,250 for the mini 02(52) 17K miles, and will let me have the RS6 at 42,500 - trade in no less than 38K in February with 5K miles added against the RS4 when it arrives.

Bowing to your experiences, how does the RS6 side of the deal stack up, and what do I need to look out for on the RS6?

Cheers, Mark

12k for the mini is not a lot, make sure you dont do more than 5k miles in 5 or 6 months.

also, what happens if your rs4 is delayed yet again

Had a chat with a chap who works for BMW (a mate of my sisters, not related to the deal), who said trade would pay between 12 and 12.5 for the mini, and private may fetch 13. He is of the belief that it would lose another 1.5-2k by February. All in all, seems reasonable at 12.25k.

It was more the deal on the RS6 that I am flying blind on. The mileage is not an issue at under 5k - daily commute is only 10 miles, so I can't imagine I will go over the 5k. Had not thought about another delay on the RS4 though - will bear that in mind. Do you think the figures on the RS6 stack though?

Cheers, Mark

rs6 is at retail money. audi bradford have an 03 03 in daytona for 37k retail, so up to you. I bought mine 3 months ago for 42k and they still seem to be suffering quiote heavy on depreciation.

think this will level out soon, as low milers will always attract a premium...

think your being skanked on the mini.

a porsche would would be an excellent interim car...late 993 carrera 2s...?

you wont lose much at all and have an interesting smoker in the interim.

The RS6 seems overpriced to me. There are some good deals to be had out there, however the guaranteed buy-back value isn't too bad as RS6 prices are still in free-fall - they may stabilise soon, but for the time being, I'm holding off and upgrading my S4 :<beep>_you:

Also agree with others on the Porsche front - less likely to lose as much value in the same time period.

I thought the price on the RS6 seemed high, but looking at other dealers to compare, found nothing for much less with low mileage and all the toys included, like this one. It's the buy back that got me interested. Couldn't find the one in Bradford listed anywhere on the Audi site.

Never really been a Porsche fan - apols for upsetting anyone.

Took it for a test drive today, and to be honest had a really good time. Keeping the left leg still was a tad unusual, but after I overcame that, thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Going to mull it over the w/e, and get back to them with further thoughts on Monday.

Thanks for all the help out there.

Cheers, Mark

The price is pretty good for the Mini. A mate is trying to offload his (same age, also a Works) and can't get £12k for it. I have a 6month old one which cost £25k which is also now surplus to requirements and i am struggling to get £17k for it. Apparently its the insurance which kills them.
As for the RS6, i am looking for a 52/03 car and am being offered all sorts of nice stuff in the mid £30s so wouldnt exactly snap the dealer's hand off at over £40k..... prices are all over the place I suspect!
