Can anyone tell me if it is possible to select a destination by postcode on the CD based sat nav. I have an 02 model car with an 02 disc. Also should I be able top sleect house numbers? The answer I know is probably read the manual but frankly there seems to be whole load of functionality which if you do not live in mainland europe does not work so I am a little confused.

The post code destination mode is not that accurate (only 4 characters as opposed to 6). You can select house number, but it works in batches e.g. 1-15, 16-32 etc.) A better way is by intersection if the address is next to a junction. I find the system fairly intuiative to use- you just keep pushing the button till you get what you want.

What isn't obvious, is that you enter postcodes in the city entry field.

They update yearly, but it's not cheap at somewhere between £80-120. It's cheaper to get them from Tele Atlas' website than from an Audi dealer though. I updated mine, so I had the M6 toll, but probably won't bother again.
If you pan out to a larger scale, you can work out where to go by seeing where the blue track line is. Had to use it in Antwerp last month using the 'Major European Route' CD. It was fine till they closed the tunnel under the Scheldt and diverted right round the city and the satnav kept trying to turn me round to go on a road that didn't exist any more.

Is there a seperate instruction manual for the Sat Nav?
I didn't get one but managed to get it working a few months back (not something I need to use often) but last week it drove me nuts trying to get it to take a postcode so reverted back to the old fashioned method I understand - a map.

The satnav/tv/cd/radio has a seperate instruction manual. There was also a 'quick reference guide' with mine.

There is an instruction manual, but mine didn't cover the entry of destination by postcode. An older issue of the manual is available online, as a pdf
here.
However, a quick guide to using postcodes:
Select destination entry as normal but, instead of entering the name of a town/city, enter the postcode in the same field. Be aware that the system doesn't accept full postcodes, but only up to the digit in the second group of characters. So, for Audi UK HQ, whose postcode is MK14 5AN, you would be able to enter MK14 5. From that point you would select the street, or destination on map, as per usual.

I did it, I charge £1000 for A3, A4 and A6, can even do A8/S8 (D2).
By RS4, do you mean new RS4 or old RS4, and what do you have in there at the moment? Symphony? RNS-D (cd based nav).
