Buying RS6, but which one?

Hello folks, my first post, I will soon be joining you.
I'm looking at two RS6s at the moment, one an 04 with a very light interior, and an 03 with black seats/interior.
Both are low mileage and £44500. The 03 plate car has 2 previous owners and the 04 car has one. Both are the same colour externally.
What are your views on:
The price - is the 03 car overpriced? The 04 car will have 2 years warrantee, the 03 will have one year.
Is the 04 car a good buy at this price?
Would a light interior hurt the resale value?
Thanks for your opinions.

... both cars are from Audi dealers, and the low mileage is 5k in the case of the 04 car, and 10k in the case of the 03 car.

What do you mean by light ?
If you mean the silver leather then imo no it will not.
Well, it doesn't hurt the resale on RS4s anyway, but it does seem to be found mainly with darker paints (for the interior / exterior contrast).
Personally I prefer the lighter interior as the black makes the car seem too opressive.
No ideas on prices as I've not been following them.
Cheers,
John. (nogaro RS4 with silver leather

Yes, it's silver leather
The exterior is Daytona grey. I would prefer the black interior on the 03, but the two cars are at the same price so the 04 seems much better value.

I have silver recaros in my S4 and as John states above, IMHO it's a big improvment over black leather (although some people on this forum will disagree with this). You need to keep them clean, but in return you get a nice contrasting look -

I had silver in my first 6. It looked fantastic when new and grubby as hell within about a fortnight.

Hello mate. Seems quite a lot for a 03 plate car. I have an 03 plate (Mugello/Black) one with (slightly) above average mileage, just serviced, brand new X-drilled disks and pads, ESR and side airbags which I got for £37k. £8k is quite a lot of difference, and probably more than the mileage can account for.
Re. the seat colour, while the silver looks nice, I went for black mainly because of the grubbiness factor but also because the seats look beautiful in black (IMHO). I had a 996 with light interior before the RS6 and it gets dirty! Incedentally I found it difficult to get the black interior, most RS6s seem to have silver leather.

The black will be just as dirty, but won't show it as much - if you can afford an RS6, you should be able to afford to get it valeted every once in a while - failing that, buy some of this stuff and DIY - works wonders in cleaning and restoring leather....

Thanks guys. I'm leaning towards the 04 car at the moment, and I think they would need to give me another 2k off the price to make me seriously consider the 03 car compared to the 04, but I don't think that is going to happen

I'll try anyway!

I have silver leather in my RS6, and think it makes the interior look a lot classier and a lot lighter. Given the choice originally I would have gone for black leather given two identical cars, for the simple reason that I was a bit worried about the light leather picking up ribena and jaffa cake stains from my two kids, but I've had the car for 5 months and it's not noticeably grubby at all.
So unless you can negotiate a decent discount (and I'd be wanting more like £5k), I'd definitely go for the 04 car.

I had Silver leather in my old S4 and thought it was better than black, then got black leather in my newer S4 and think it is better than silver.
So it probably does not make much difference.
Question to ask yourself is what would you choose if buying new!

Rupert, if you're still looking, I'm considering selling my black RS6 saloon and buying a Noble M400...... Probably not a very sensible idea though.
Nov 2003.
14,500 miles.
Drilled discs
Dark grey alcantara interior including expensive alcantara roof option. Black suede steering wheel/gearshift. Also rare, de-chrome option I was looking for.
Looking for £40k ovno.

Thanks Al, but I bought the 04 one.

Yours looks a very good price compared to the other 03 I looked at (a few months older than yours).
You should have no problem shifting it at that price!
Good luck with the Noble.
