What are peoples' average fuel economy? Does ECU modifications change them for the better or worse?

Best I can manage on a run, driving like a nun 23mpg on Optimax.
Normal (IE what an RS6 is for) about 20 on a run, local 15. If you have the opertunity to use the performance fully, single figures.

It's pretty much single figures all the way for me these days as i dont travel like i used to so it's all round town stuff and me driving most of the time. But hey, who's moaning? £1 a litre anyone...?!
(I wash i could spill too).

Best I can do from kent to bournemouth is about 23 too (driving with the 3 year old in the back) - that soon drops off after a blast on my own and i reckon if i get 20 over an average year that will be good .. and i will be broke but

My best is 24.1 on French Autoroute at French speed limit, the worst 11.3 short distance town driving with no longer runs involved.

At risk of being totally boring- 440 miles!
However, normal average on motorways seems to be 21-22 mpg. Don't know why but it seems to like French petrol and autoroutes more than Optimax and UK motorways. Probably due to much less traffic so less stopping and starting! Found the same with my S6 too. Going to give it (and me) another treat of empty roads next week.
