My RS6 has today been in for its 24 month service It has only just covered 7000 miles I have been informed that it need new discs and pads on the front @ £800

The car has never been tracked and is standard

Do you think this is right (I dont) they have tried Audi to replace under warenty and apparently according to Audi this is within there estimated life span 7K?

Has any one had this problem

Any feedback appreciated

my brake pad light has just come on at 30k

I guess it depends on how the car has been driven. I'd be pretty disppointed if I got through a set of pads though in 7k miles, never mind a set of discs!

The car does seem to be very heavy on its front discs though even in slow driving. Last weekend I did a round trip to a local retail park (about 8 miles in total). The car was standing for about 90 mins in the car park, I drove the 4 miles home pretty sedately, parked up on the driveway and decided to give the car a wash. I got the hose and cleaning equipment out, and when it came to clean the front wheels I was greeted by big clouds of steam coming from the front discs where water had got onto them. I really wasn't expecting that given the length of the journey, the manner in which I'd been driving and the length of time the car had to cool down.

It's a big, heavy car and will be hard on it's brakes, especially being auto. (Unless you make use of the manual facilty of the gearbox). That said 7K is nothing, mine ( a 6+) has done 11K and has plenty of meat left on the pads and only a small wear ridge detectable on the discs.
