Where was the Plus sold?

The wifes boss is well up for a Plus, but he wants it in the US.
Did they sell them in the States, and if not, importing from Europe would be a nightmare right?

Cheers

Dont think so Ben as all the rs6plus were avant and the US never got them, not even in standard rs6.

Ben

Pretty sure the RS6 was sold in the states.
The American lads on this site will be able to help regarding this matter.

As I understand it the Avant does not comply with the more stringent US crash and/or pollution legislation and accordingly only the saloon version was available in the US in a modified form. Accordingly would not think you can import one either. Their loss in my opinion.

Doubt very much you'd get one in although I think they have certain waivers for 'collectors cars' though i seriously doubt that an RS6 of any sort would qualify. There's a site called RS6.com - mainly american - might be worth asking the guys there.

You do NOT understand.

The Avant was not imported into the US because:

a. US dealers think the old S6 Avant was a dog because it was an Avant, when all S6s were dogs and overpriced, you could chip the 2.7 turbo instead.
b. they need a box the size of a cat cage in the back to store the battery, because there is a charcoal filter in the wheel well where the battery is placed in ROW cars. This box is even more obtrusive in an Avant.

Contrary to what you hear, the pollution laws are a doddle to pass, even in CA. The crash test has nothing to do with it.

It is cheaper to convert a US saloon to an Avant than it is to legally (note the legally) process a European RS6 into the US. The other features the Plus offers are readily available, a chip will offer more power, the wheels are available and the stiffer suspension is also easily obtained after market.

So you could theoretically take the drivetrain from an RS6 and slot it into an existing widebody avant such as an S6? That would make sense (in theory if not necessarily financially) i suppose.

Perhaps. In the thread i read they added avant rear quarters, roof etc to a saloon. Looked a nice job too.
