More Modifying for the Beast!!

After 2 weeks of trying, AmD & myself have finally got agreement from Sportec to provide initial/preferential pricing for what we believe is the first such Sportec RS6 performance package in the UK 8)

Basically this kit consists of the following:

Sportec Hybrid Intercoolers (about 40% larger than OEM intercoolers)
Sportec Gearbox oil Cooler
Sportec Engine oil Cooler
Sportec Carbon Fibre air intakes (about 30% larger than OEM intakes)

This kit will fall somewhere between what AmD quote as Stage 4 & 5 once the new Sportec parts are fitted, as my car is already at AmD stage 2 with other makers modifications (AmD & Milltek) but its not going to be having the Hybrid Turbos or Sports Cats.

http://www.auto-amd.com/rs6.asp

The carbon fibre air intakes are meant to be a pure work of art 8)

Just waiting for the nod on fitting date which i hope will be 17th & 18th of Feb, just in time for my play day at Castle Combe on the 19th :D

To finish the job off, i've also decided to have the Sportec/H&R developed springs fitted to the car which (according to Sportec) transform the handling, as they've been specially designed to compliment the electronic dampers & gismos on the RS6. The new springs also lower the car by 20mm :)

The power & torque gains are in the region of 20-25bhp, so with my AmD stage 2, power should be nudging 550BHP :o & the torque should get close to the 500lbsft mark :o

Sportec have worked on a few RS6's in Germany, but to date their are no others in the UK.

To say i'm excited would be an under statement. Just crosiing my fingers that the parts arrive from Germany in time for fitting prior to Combe.

Just be careful that you dont fall into the trap that Andiroo did with his RS4 noggy babe, it sounds great but get assurances all the way through, oh and dont pay them a paenny until youre completely satisfied with it!

Cheers John.

I've already had assurances from both AmD & Sportec that this upgrade is totally safe in all ways & i've used AmD for both the RS6 & my previos S8, so happy with their work. Am a little worried about them having to dismantle most of the front of the car to fit these parts, but they know what they're doing.

Only paid a small deposit & won't be expected to pay any more until the work is complete & i've test driven the car.

We're Andy's problems with AmD or Sportec?

Silly question - but how do these mods impact on insurance?

Not sure yet, as they are not strictly performance mods as is the case with a re-map & zorst.

The mods are not strictly designed as power enhancing, it just so happens that an increase of about 25-30bhp results. Much the same as running higher octane fuel cn increase power but is not a performance mod.

My insurers have been informed but are unable to decide on the impact to premiums (hopefully no increase).
