I am off to France next month for a weeks skiing. I have made contact with a company called "Spikes Slider" regarding snow chains that will fit the '6. Has anyone any experience of these ?
Thanks

Just back myself and I spent an inordinate amount of time researching chains and eventually came to the sad conclusion that it is not possible to find chains for an RS6 with 19'' wheels. Others on this site have also been through the same process and arrived at the same conclusion - change the wheels to 18'' and then there is no problem (other than cost!!).Haven't heard of 'Spikes Slider' but will be intrigued to hear what they believe they can provide.
Anyway it was a great experience driving the beast through France and would strongly recommend it.

Spikes Spider can provide chains for the RS ! Have posted on another forum and have received replies that they work ! Possibly going to give them a try !
Why chains?
I would be very, very surprised if you ended up in a situation the RS6 wouldn't master with standard winter tires. I've lived in Switzerland until two years ago and never bothered to buy chains for the RS4.
Oh - I almost forgot the sadistic pleasure to pass by, light-footed, porky BMW's and Benzes stopped on the side of the road to fit chains. Give them the noise of spinning turbos, and the pleasure is complete.
If the custom where you live is to ride on summer tires all year-round, then chains might be worthwile for the two weeks winter holidays. You might consider winter tires for the wet months, though. Winter tires offer better stability in the wet - especially when braking - and preserve the soft (and pricy) sports tires for the days more likely to see B-road blasts.
PS: Take your car out around 2 a.m. for a ride on snow-covered roads. ESP off, nose in the turn and full throttle. Better than Playstation
