RS6 buying advice?
RS6 buying advice?
Hi, sorry if this is asked a lot here (had a quick search) but just wanted to double check on essential things I should be asking sellers of RS6's, whether private or dealer. I'd ask an Audi Salesman but generally find owners know much more than car dealers!
Looking for a black RS6 saloon with black interior and have three to follow up so far. One has been "de-chromed". Is this an Audi option? Do they all come with Sat Nav/TV unless symphony sound system ordered?
What are the main options I should be checking for?
£45k for 2003 and 10k miles sound OK from Audi dealer?
All info gratefully rec'd. Thanks.

De-chroming was an option and satnav + standard fitting. I'd try to knock them down a couple of thou on the £45 (I paid £49k for a 2004 with 6000 on the clock with a 4 yr old S6 as a part exchange), but the price you pay depends on the part exchange you want (or not). No part-ex means you can push for a cheaper deal and if you are going for finance that can also reduce the price as they get commission on that too. Try to get some satnav CDs for any European countries you may be visiting out of them too as part of the deal as they're £100+ each.
Tracker(or similar) is a nice option, but most 2nd hand models have it anyway. The brushed alu trim looks nice with the silver leather. I've got the cross-drilled brakes, but can't really tell the difference from the standard, apart from the looks, as I'm not going to take it on any track days.
On second hand models take a look at the discs as they don't last too long if you're heavy footed and a lover of track days. Some of the ones I looked at were very badly 'kerbed'- doesn't bode well for how the car has been treated if all four wheels are chipped and scratched.

Firstly, welcome to the fold & you've made an excellent choice.
In my opinion, the price is about right, but always good to screw the stealers for every penny. I paid £51K for a 4 month old example with 6K miles back in April this year (has a couple of extras).
I'm 99.9% sure that Tracker is/was standard on all RS6's but i think it was the basic level. Its certainly shown as standard on the options list. Not sure about the de-chroming, as the car has chroem in a variety of places (mirrors, front grill, zorst & interior). The example you mention could be all or none of these although i've seen a couple with just body coloured wing mirrors.
Solar sunroof is a great option & would you should look out for (think it was about £900 list), plus the enhanced discs if available, but as Kev says above their is possibly no major difference.
I'd avoid one without Sat Nav+ & TV, as you'll get hit hard when you come to resell & its a good piece of kit that i fond invaluable.
Most important, enjoy the car as its awesome.
Ps. Take it to AmD & get it fettled. Once you go through the 500BHP mark, its a whole different ball game.
