I am considering using the Audi service plan for my 6 when it comes. For a 15,000 mile per year deal they quote £102 per month. That includes servicing, tyre wear and tear and breaks etc.

How does £1200 per year for 15,000 miles compare to any of you guys running costs?

If you go over the allocated mileage you pay a 2p per mile excess! Could be expensive.

I did 5,000 miles in 3 months in the S4 that I rejected. I've done 3,000 in the RS6 that Audi have lent me in just over a month, gulp! [img]images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]

Fixed price fuel for the year, anyone?

The thing is I really don't go anywhere. I haven't taken either car abroad or further than 150 miles from my house.

I keep telling myself to buy a nice diesel for my weekly trip to London but I know I'd never use it.

I'd buy another bike for the summer but A: the wife would leave me and B: even though I've had my license for 20 years and rode all year round for 16 of them, usually 750cc or 1000cc, because I haven't ridden for 4 years they won't even quote me on an R1 or Blade!!

No points, 10 years without an accident (except in Audi's car recently in the snow) Screw them.

So anyway, back to my main question. Audi service plan thingy - good deal or not? Discuss...........

I do under 35k miles a year, so the worst-case the extra 20k miles would be about £400 if my maths is right.

A 10k service is about £250 and a 20k one is £450 if I remember rightly, plus of course brake discs and pads are not included in a regular service - nearly 2 grand for a full set by the time you've paid fitting etc (again IIRC).

Tyres last about 11k to 15k depending upon how driven, so a year will see at least two sets on if not three. £800 for 4 fitted is about on the mark.

Given that a 35k/year driver would pay service costs of £700 plus another £1600 for tyres, plus probably one set of brakes a year for another £2000, that's a total of £4300 a year in servicing and so on. If the £102 a month includes extending the warranty beyond the 2 years/50k miles you get as standard, it's very worth it. Even if it doesn't, it still seems to cost in.

Anyone any different on the numbers?

So do you just ask your friendly Audi dealer about this service plan then? Somebody mentioned it before & recommended it, but I forget who and I didn't follow it up, to my eternal shame - probably paid over the odds already as a result... [img]images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

You can work the numbers slightly:

10k : £150
20k : £500
Tyres: £985 (Pilot Sport 2's)

So that's not bad 35k could cost about £3k.... Before you add brakes on.... Mine has just done front discs alone in in 15k, 1 grand to replace, therefore about 3k per annum on brakes (rears included)

At this rate the costs spiral to £6k per annum... good deal! get the plan!

I think at this rate I'll have to take the Company BMW 330d Coupe Sports + NAV and run a separate VX220 Turbo or something........!!

Article about a guy trying to reject a brand new S4 after numerous mishaps - rear door jammed shut, dodgy feul gauge, new alternator, new gearbox, wipers hitting frame, bonnet stuck.......

Yup, just went to the newsagent to catch up on my 3 seconds of fame.
You'll notice that they must have been short at last minute for an article or they would have contacted me for an update.
All the info they have there was just from my initial email.
S'pose if they had replied they would have claimed that they secured my rejection and subsequent brand loyal RS6 conversion......
Maybe I'll sell them the glory for a tank or two of fuel.
